Hey no emergency posts biyatch if it is an emergency use your phone. No need to pollute this thread!! To answer the question of how much power 31 spline axles can handle I would read the thread and look back a few pages and Eric answers your question.

since your going 4.10 i would assume m6.
m6 first gear is 2.88. More or less its simply math.

Torque of motor
x first gear
x rear end gear
x .90

That gives you how many ft lbs of torque your motor can apply to the axle, then all the axles are rated from moser.

30 spline - 6200
31 spline - 7000
33 spline - 8200
35 spline - 9600
40 spline - 12000

When you do the math you want each axles to be able to withstand the max amount, so you are safe and dont have to worry about breaking. If the power is getting sent to both evenly they should be able to hold 2 times the amount you are purchasing the axle for.

So to answer your question with a 4.10 gear, and a m6 with 31 spline axles the axle should be good up to about 658 trq or so.

As far as the limited slip did you get a detriot locker? You will probably have to look up manufacturer and see how much power they rate what ever you getting at. I think some people with lockers say 700 or so.(could be wrong, never looked into them, nor owned one)

good luck
Chris

Ps moser has a calc on there site.

Eric runs 31 spline axles on his own car and cuts 1.3 60 fts with a 3800 lb weight so they are plenty strong.

Nice i had him press on my bearings, and setup my rear so it was super easy to install. I did a gear in a 10 bolt 1 time, but never touched a 9 inch. I figured to have him do it, since he does it all the time.

Im sure it will be a breeze for him.

My rear will be here this week sometime according to Eric, but what Fluid is everyone running. I have a trutrac as well and I was told not to use any kind of posi additive. Also I plan to do some break in miles on the rear with several heat and cool cycles. Do I need to drain the fluid out of the rear after the first few hundred miles or just not worry about it??

Eric what do you suggest we do??
Thanks, Ben

It depends on what year the car is.

The 1993s had 2 different 6-speeds. One had a 3.36 ratio 1st gear, the other had a 2.97 ratio 1st gear.
The 1994-2002s had one 6-speed, with a 2.66 1st gear ratio.

The only thing I can remember having a 2.88 was the Richmond T10 4-speed and the Borg Warner Super T10 4-speed.

not sure about truetrac, but i have a spool. I just used cheap 80-90 gl5 stuff for break in. 500 ish miles, and drain and then refil. Eric told me he really like valvolene for regular off the shelf fluids, so thats what i threw in mine after break in.

I have a tru trac and we are supposed to run just regular gear oil. We did a couple laps around the block and drained the rear and put fresh oil in it. I heat cycled it three times and now I am putting 500 miles on it and will be putting fresh gear oil in it after the 500 miles.
