Pretty much the gun drilled star flange is more money. So maybe if you were willing to pay some more, but at that point just buy knew ones, and maybe try to sell your old ones.

if i break an axle on the track, let alone on the street i will be super DUPER pissed.

If there is a chance of that I will just have to leave my mailbox open to a 40 spline set up on exchange from midwest.

Why would they exchange axles for you?

Mighty Mouse...my 12 bolt came from moser setup already...they whinned horribly from the start after the 500 mile break in and cold running it 10 minutes on jackstands in foward and reverse. i just ordered a 9" yesterday morning from them bc i jsut simply cant wait for one of these. mine will be here Friday, since these use strange and Moser centers anyway i figured the time i have to wait wont make much of a difference. on the height however i like the fact it raises the car. my 28's ifit without trimming ANYTHING i never bottom out ANYWHERE and i hope thta the 9" i get keeps it the same but for the record i havent heard much good about 12 bolts and just sold my housing for 800...whn mine was an auto it was a great rear less the whine but other than that it 1.5 60 ft'd no prob, belive it or not i actually broke it with street tires all three times. my bias plys had no problem for the rear...

I've read multiple posts where Moser 9" rears whine from the beginning also. If I was going Moser I'd definately have the set up checked before installation on any of their rears.

that is what i would require to be a satisfied customer as I am now using what was reccomended to me by them for my horsepower, weight, and level of street duty.

Well that's just retarded. You have a car that makes a lot of horsepower, and is raced on a consistent basis, and you want free replacement parts (never mind that you want UPGRADED parts) when they break. I want what your smoking.

I'm sorry you dont share my outlook, but certainly you are putting words in my mouth now.

I requested 'the lightest axles that would not break' obviously say 40 vs 35 sp may not cost the same and i would expect to pay the difference if it was necessary that i upgrade.. by upgrade I mean there was a failure

This 'hollow axles are too brittle for the street' is brand new info to me and has me scared. I drive my car most every day. If I have an axle failure during unreasonable circumstances well then I certainly did not get what I requested. For the future I guess I just have to feel 'good' about Eric's decision to use them on my project.

Since I am apparently the only one who's had any sort of problem with a midwest rear yet my list is double digits perhaps we would just want to 'lemon' the entire unit at some point.

Right now its in the car and working well. I would really prefer to keep it that way.

MM you'll be fine. You ain't gonna break them. Beat the **** out of them and see what happens. Don't the axles have a lifetime warranty through the manufacturer?

I wouldn't say gun drilling them does not affect their strength. Tire shake can tear up driveline parts pretty quickly. Plenty of guys I talked to have twisted 35 spline gun drilled axles and had to step up to gun drilled 40s. I chose not to gun drill my 35s based on the recommendations I recieved.

MM what kind of power are you putting down on your highest boost level with your new heads and block? What kind of rear tire are you running when you want to stick?

that is the plan... to just not have a problem.

i have no idea what the manufacturer reccomends or warranties. my purchase was from midwest.

The turbo i have is good for 1250 horse so thats what I can make.
I run a 315/35/17 mt drag radial

so far it made 890 to the tires at about 21# through the unlocked 4l80

from what i unserstand drilling them allows them to flex more then a solid axle which makes them less brittle...
but like i said i was told drilled axles on the street would crack and break over time...otherwise i would have done it for sure...i even said i only drive my car about 75miles a week max...most of the time its less then 5

MM I would contact the manufacturer and ask about their warranty and ask about their strength and see if they agree with Erics recommendation. I do know Eric is pretty sharp so you will be fine.
