Who's broken a Truetrac?

I have broken one.
It was an ORIGINAL tru trac, not the UPDATED Eaton unit.
Rear End: Moser 12 bolt, April 2004 Build date.
Options: 3.42's, 33 Spline axles, upgraded diff cover
Car: Current car; 2002 T/A, M6, 3" steel DS, SLP LID, Headers, cat back, stock tune, Making 326 rwhp (corrected) M/T ET street radials. Stock clutch. No line lock
How I broke it: Burnout @ the track. At LVD (Lebenon Valley Dragway), I had no line lock, and LVD doesnt put much water down.
This was my 1st manual car that i race.
A combo of no line lock, tires that have PLENTY of stick and messing up the burn out the car wheel hopped BAD, it was nearly earth shattering. The car didnt feel right after that.
Over the next few days the rear diff acted exactly like a TRUE locker, the wheel was binding up bad on tight turns. It sounded very broken
I ended having to replace it with a new UPDATED unit, since the axles are cut for the tru trac, I couldnt go to a Eaton unless I wanted to do axles too.
I upgraded to 4.10's at the same time. Also armed with line lock, the car did solid burn outs and I went to the track again a bunch of times and never had a issue since.
The diff physically looks fine, nothing exploded, actually the rear stopped acting up right before the job but I didnt trust it.

I broke a true trac's with 400 rwhp and 456 rwtq and I was launching at only 5400 rpm on the 2-step with et streets. This was also in a Moser 9". Now I have a locker. Only been back to the track once with the locker and was launching at 5500 or so on the 2-step and she seemed to work fine.

I broke a trutrac in my 12 bolt, biggest waste of money and worst experience on car to date.
No wheel hop, the biggest joke is it replaced a US gear posi that was only rated for 450 flywheel hp THAT DID NOT BREAK.
Car is 656 rwhp LT1 blower car that I made 4 passes with the truetrac.
Not only did the case crack when I replaced the posi the 3 gears on each side had ground into the case spitting metal into my diff and messing up my bearing and gears.

I don't understand what he is saying either. I have made about 5 passes on the locker with no trouble. A buddy of mine with the same rwhp but has about 50 less tq is on a locker also. He sets his 2 step at 6000 rpm and hasn't broke his!(this is with a 9" also)

I have a fresh one to install for this season. I'm not making huge power so i hope it will be fine. This is an 8.8 application so a little different. I searched and searched and posted all over the Ford message boards and I couldn't find one single Truetrac failure in the 8.8 rears. I launch at 5500+ so we'll see soon enough

ok. call moser. hell call the company that makes a detroit locker. the thing is only "rated" to 3500 rpm launch. it is just a rating. but my buddy broke his on a 6000 rpm launch. so he called moser. Moser asked what rpm he launched at. he said 6000. they said sorry that voids warrenty. only rated/warrented to 3500.

I fail to see how RPM of the launch can even be considered a factor. I could launch my 125CC 2 stroke bike engine powering a truetrac equipped 12 bolt at 12,000 RPM and it wouldn't even spin the thing let alone hurt it.
Theres too many factors that come into play to just rate a launch RPM so whoever told you that is crack smoking. Power levels, car weight, traction, clutch type, suspension set up etc etc etc. all play a gigantic role in how severe the shock is on the differential so its senseless to say they are rated to a certain RPM clutch dump.
The word on the boards is the Truetrac is rated to 600rwhp from what I've seen posted by various sponsors who sell the TrueTrac.

I can't vouche for mine just yet. But for what pass's I have made and trying(I mean really trying) to break it on the street. Mine has held up perfect. I actually hate the damn thing it is to noisy. But, it works and works good.

Think what you want man. But, my buddy has done the same thing over and over probably made 50+ pass's on the 2 step set at 6000 r.p.m.(sometimes he sets it alittle higher) He is also on the stock tq arm and stock lca's. They have been boxed in for reinforcement though.
