On inside line as well:

If it's true and coming, it BETTER be lighter then the V6 5th gen....it will need to compete with the GT500.

Its all about cost i think if its gonna beat the gt500 its gonna be up there in price maybe even or a little less, but we all know how easy it is to gain more power, either way if it doesnt match the gt 500 i still call it a win for gm, based on everything else..do we need to go in detail here?
Im mad at myself now for being one of the first ones to get an rs.ss

Z28 is likely to go on-sale in late 2011 as a 2012 MY vehicle. I believe it will be released as an anniversary car (45th). Comparing a 2012 Z28 to a 2010 or 2011 GT500 is pointless, as it assumes Ford will make no changes to the GT500 between the 2011 and 2012 model years. 2011 is already 120lbs lighter than the 2010 and set to make 550HP.

Sorry guys, I don't see the engine combo happening. I remember GM making statements prior to the 2010's pricing being announced, that they needed to keep it affordable.
ZR1 - 105,000 (LS9)
CTS-v - 65,000 (dumbed down LS9 1.9L vs. 2.3L supercharger and wimpier internals)
Z28 - 40,000(guesstimate) (even more dumbed down LS9)???
My guess is they hot-cam the LS3 and give it 480 HP and a suspension package for a 5,000 bump over the SS.
I just don't see a dumbed down LS9 in the Camaro. It is the everyman's sports car and putting the superman's engine in it would drive up costs and deminish the rarity and "oohh I wish I could have it" of the LS9.

I don't see why it would have to come out too pricey. Basically, just adding money for the engine, and a few new suspension pieces (well, and the appearance stuff). Most of this stuff is just borrowed from other cars in the lineup already, so I doubt it'll come in above $50,000.

LSA will make its way into the Camaro to compete the GT500. Either you like it or not. And its not as dumb engine, its a solid performer. Research the dyno section a bit.
It will be affordable because it has the chevy sign up front, and not the caddy crown. 2 different market.
And since when a factory 556hp engine is wimpy? What do you drive?

I'm all ready to test the NA GT against an SS myself.
