Thinking about trading my '10 SS for a Vette... Input??
Ok here's the deal. I got my car in December and did the cam, exhaust, CAI, etc. at under 1,000 miles. She put down 475 rwhp right after the mods, now that it's got 4000 miles it does feel a bit stronger but anyway... I find myself wanting a C6 more and more. Can't really explain it other than I've never had one. I don't dislike my car at all, but I can't afford both so here's what I'm thinking - I found this C6 about 6 hours from home. It's a 2007 fully loaded 3LT Z51 car, every option available. It has 18,000 miles and has receipts for $37,000 worth of work at Specter Werkes back in '07 or '08. It has the LS2 stroked to 6.6L with a fully forged bottom end, worked over LS6 heads, cam, LG longtubes and Corsa full exhaust. The guy is claiming 586rwhp but he's just a car salesman, I told him maybe 586 at the flywheel but definitely not at the wheels with that combo. It also has a hood with heat extractors, Forgeline wheels, Stoptech brakes and lots of carbon fiber.
I'm having some issues giving my ~6 month old car with a few mods + cash for a 3 year old car, but it is a Corvette, and while the $37,000 worth of mods from Specter may be over priced, it's still a beautiful car.
I'm just looking for input, I haven't really researched the value of used Corvette's, I'm hoping somebody can give me some insight as to whether this would be a good deal or not. I know ultimately it will be up to me to decide if I'd really rather have the Vette than my car, I just want to know everybody's thoughts on the financial aspect of it.
I'd post pics of my car, but I don't have any on my computer and I'm away from home but just imagine a 2010 2SS/RS in IOM with the flat black hockey stripes and the polished wheels, orange interior and both cars are M6's. Here's the C6:

If it were me, Hell Yes. But then I have my sights on a 2007 or newer vette anyway. For what there asking for the 2010 SS you might as well have the vette. The only problem your going to run into now is trade in. I don't know what you paid for the camaro but I'd bet money your gonna be upside down pretty good on the trade in, probably to the tune of $8K or better. I realize you have low miles and its a 2010 but from a dealer standpoint its still a used car now and they're going to rape you on the trade in.

Not really. I paid $37k and change, right at sticker and have $3-4k in mods and they're giving me $35k

I hear ya but I really don't think I'll be posing my ***. And the car is actually very well documented. All receipts and paperwork, as well as all original parts. Hood, wheels and tires, exhaust, brakes, etc.

Then get off your *** and just do it and stop thinking about it and get it over with before it stresses u out.So its a little older that will be the only delema but u will still have a Vette in the end.

Post pics of your camaro. The corvette is very nice, however I'm a HUGE camaro fan. If I were you I would keep the Camaro. For one, its BRAND new, you know whats done to it, and you know how its been treated. This vette could fall apart and then you would really be in a mess.
Brand new camaro > Used vette
Brand new camaro > Used vette

I would go down there and see if u can take it for a day test ride and then decide. The only part that would bother me is getting a older car when i have a brand new one.My car is paid for but i know if i traded it in on a 08 Vette they would want a couple of grand or more plus my car for one but if they said even trade i would most likely do it in a heatbeat depending on miles.

It actually looks just like blk/slvr02ss's car. I don't have any pics on my computer and I'm in San Diego on business and live near Chicago. The corvette is in Indiana. I'll grab some pics when I get home. I'm not really stressing about it, if I don't do it I'll be happy enough with my car for now, and something else will come up eventually. Where were they selling brand new vette's for under $42k?

If you paid $37K and there offering you $35K for your 2010 you need to back away from the computer right now and go down there because that is unheard of. Typically when you drive off the lot you lose 20-25% of the cars value right off the bat. You always lose money on mods when you decide to trade it off so thats nothing new. But the car your looking at has mods so its not a real loss, your actually making out there too. If your sure there gonna give you that much for your SS I'd do it in a heat beat.

That's kinda what I'm thinking. And like I said, I paid sticker for the car but the truck I traded in on it I got for almost $13k off sticker. Drove it for almost a year and traded it on the SS for $2500 more than I paid for it.

No brainer, the Vette. You keep waiting around and it will be gone.
Where I'm from you can get 3 pulls on the dyno with a/f for $75. Get the salesman to let you test drive it for an afternoon, setup a dyno session locally, go get a few pulls and see if what the receipts say are done to the car are true? While it's on the dyno totally inspect the car underneath (if a drive on style) and make sure all is legit. If the car does what they say it does and it has been well taken care of go for it! For the money and trade in value you are getting and a MUCH faster car this decision wouldn't be hard for me! Good Luck!
