Thought this was a cool vid

Add a little more fuel to the fire.

Both cars have exhaust, cai and tune. Both 6 speed manual.

When i was reading about these two cars a few years ago i figured the SS might have some trouble pulling away considering its weight. Every video i see its the camaro pulling up top though. Nice vid!

A roll race negates the camaros weight somewhat. It is also geared slightly better for this type of race (pull to 110 in 3rd gear...not as much shifting)

From a roll and on the streets the cars are pretty evenly matched. For track duty the nod goes to the 5.0 no doubt.

I have a feeling the 5.0 only had a cat back exhaust and not headers by looking at the description. If it would have had headers the race would be neck and neck IMO.

i thought you could bolt on more than just cai and exhaust. anyways at the tracks its a completely different story. i hate ford but god i love those 5.0s i seen one bolted (really bolted) run a 11.6 with stickies.

the driver told me he may have been of by a tenth or two due to his check engine light being on.

From what I've seen, i was under the impression that new 5.0's have a shorty style header from the factory... Disregard if it came from the factory, but wouldn't that count as having headers? IMO yes

If LS cars came with a shorty style header I wonder what their OE specs would be...

IMPOSSIBLE!

The 5.0 can't be beaten by a lowly LS3 SS.....only a ZR1 has a chance against the all mighty and powerful 5.0.

5th gen has gone 11.6 with exhaust, CAI, Tune and 17 inch rims and tires. (11.7 documented). Hardly anyone is running the 5th gen hard with bolts ons and an effective rim and tire combo. (for one the 17 inch rims that clear the brembos are over 500 a pop right now)

Mustang has gone as fast as 11.2 with a similar set-up so far...but it was a shop car from what I had read. Not sure if it had weight out or some other tricks etc.

They do have tubular mid length style from the factory....the 5.0 does not pick up quite as much from the headers as an ls3 but they get A TON from the tune...so it evens up somewhat in the end.

What people are forgetting is that the 5.0 is maxed out from the factory so when people and coldair or headers they don't gain as much . When you add these items to the ls3 they gain much more hence they pull away from the 5.0.
