Eh, different strokes for different folks... The 2013 GT500 is going to be a monster, 200MPH, Recaro seats, very aggressive styling along with all the other awesome feature it has and all for $55k starting along with a warranty!! Honestly to say, this will be my next car and GM cant touch it with their current line up... Hopefully GM can dig its head out off its *** and fix their mistake and once again own the road, like it once did years ago.

Well the gt500 has always been a front runner for ford and it has every right to be. My company cammander has a 2011 gt500 its a beast for sure. And no doubt 2013 will be no different i will be interested to see slps zl1 againts the gt500 that will be a good matchup

Ya there are some pretty quick stock passes already, low 12s seems to be were this car will run on avg. with 11s pretty easy on tires. Not bad, not great either... but with a few mods your looking at a 10 sec car! You can buy an SS and run just as fast, but its going to take just as much money in the end. The ZL1 does not need any suspension, rear end or trans upgrades to handle 10 sec passes. The SS can barely handle 11s without at lest a 1k set of axles I think its a pretty bad *** car, I would buy one just for the fact it seems to be built to handle allot of abuse, and thats what really matters!

You are right, I was on the camaro5 forum and just a few changes to one of the members and he was running 11.60's with ease, I think he has now run some 11.40's. Pulley, 160 stat and some tuning, etc. No internal mods what so ever. Its still a lot of money for any of the real fast rides. I've got a lot in my g8, well into the mid 40's and still at least 10k cheaper then the zl1. I'm going to do the dod delete cam package this winter and I should be in the high 10's in the spring.

Good luck man, sounds like a mean G8! You dont see many built up around here... mostly bone stock. GM has made some pretty sweet rides the last few years... G8, SS, ZL1, CTSV, vettes! Its like take your pick cuz you cant loose with none of them! I would not mind getting my hands on a 10 CTSv at some point.

just got home from the grocery store and glanced at the road&track (i think) at the mag stand. They compared the nissan gt-r to the new supercharged 580hp super camaro. Sit down first then check this out. 12.9 at 113 !!?? What thu!!!
Is that a joke or what? The nissan went something like 11.3! What the hell did the General do to make that thing soooo slow?

Oh yeah, the worst one... my dad was in the army from the mid 70s to late 80s and 'ford' use to sell cars to GIs overseas just to have them impounded at US shipping docks cause of the exterior lighting, emissions and other misc items whiched meant having to pay $2-3k on a $400 monthly income to get the vehicle out of impound is FUCKED UP!!
Being in the military myself... it pisses me off even more. **** ford!!! They circled their problem the way their actions they let represent their company.
There's another personal problem ford made between ford and my mom after my step-dad died. All i'll say, is if i ever found out who the person on the phone that said the sh*t to my mom, man or women... I will personally give them the *** whooping of their life.

Well, i hate to say it but ford is on its A game for sure. I dont know why they didnt equip the ZL1 with a 2.3L blower instead of the 1.9L. I have not read what the new 5.0 coyotes are running but my friends stock 02 SS ran 12.9 at 111 just last week. Stock except for a Spec clutch but it did go several 13.0s at same mph with stock clutch anyhow. To me thats rippin pretty good for a stock car listed for 315hp or whatever it is. I dont understand how these 426hp new camaros arent running faster.

I still wouldn't buy one. Ford is an ******* company. What about the recall that didn't get recalled? Yea, the pinto in the 70s that allowed 2 high school girls die from a rear end collision cause the gas tank was known to explode, but ford didn't want to hurt their pockets. ********!!! .

Couple things wrong with this post. First the GT500 is a Ford product designed, engineered, and built by Ford in Michigan. Also you do realized the COPO car is not a street legal car it's more on the line of the Cobra Jet and Challenger Drag Pack car.

Stock ZL1 runs 11.9, on stock tires.

So for a little extra money to buy the GT500(8500$, no doubt an incredible car) you have a car thats 3 tenths faster and does 200mph. The ZL1 is still slower but not by that big of a margin like everyone is making it out to be. Plus its still incredibly fast around Nurburgring, and VIR at least till ford releases updated times, but i have a feeling as great a car that the 2013 GT500 is, it wont beat the ZL1 in handling. If you look at the times of VIR, and Nurburgring theres a ton of time the GT500 would have to make up to top the ZL1.

VIR laptimes
ZL1 2:52.38
2012 GT500 2:58.00
Ford GT 3:00.70
Six seconds could be a challenge for the 2013 GT500 but it will no doubt be close. Ford has yet to release updated times for VIR, and Nurburgring.

i just dont get the problem with these cars. There were guys with cts-v sedans running in the 10s with stock exhaust and just pulleys and ported blowers. i have the heavyest LSA car there is and it just went 11.4s with a pulley and a c.a.i and tires.. there was not ONE zl1 at the lsfest that was out of the 12s.. just sad.

Show me a street car latemodel ford that runs 9 on motor with a stock motor I got one. And I hope that the new 5.0 can make 1000 hp with alot of boost a 13 year old 4.8 Ls base made 1000 with only 25 psi stock motor and I would be willing to bet u that the Coyote motor had more boost. Haaaaaa 500 $ motor are cheaper sleep on it
