Does anyone know if the 2010 ZL550 Camaro is suppose to miss about 20mph? And also does it have the cylinder displacement setup? My dad has one but he seems to think that it is missing. Any help would be well appreciated. Thanks

With a 'new' car that almost no one owns here on this site, why are you asking for assistance here? I would have that car back at the dealership in a 'heartbeat' and if not satified with the one your Dad bought it from, then go to another or make some calls to GM. They will gladly assist, especially with the kind of $$ your Dad spent on that car.

No. IIRC, the LS3 and LSA do not come with active cylinder shutoff. In order to do that, they use these goofy lifters with springs in them. Those motors (as far as Camaros go) only come behind automatic transmissions. Honestly, those supercharged V8s (LSA and LS9) have been hit and miss across the internet. It's a powerful motor with tight tolerances, a good percentage of them came with small issues. Get it back to the dealership before you break something.

He is going to take it back to them and see what they think is wrong. Thanks for the replies. We didnt think it should have the cylinder shut off but wasnt sure. He had a 2008 Atomic Orange Z06 before this ZL550 and I know it didnt have the cylinder shut off lol.

If it's an auto then it comes from the factory with active fuel management but yours is a SLP Camaro and my guess is they probably tuned it out. Give SLP a call or maybe check the SLPZL Camaro website. Another way to check if you have afm is to jump on the highway and start cruising at a steady speed above 50mph and if the exhaust start to sounds different and not like a V8 (listen for horrible drone), then it's still active.
What about missing 20mph? What are you talking about?

Yes at 70mph it does make a sound change as you are talking about. And it makes the same exact sound at 20mph when you just take it easy on the throttle. But if you give it more gas up to 20mph it doesnt make that sound. So that tells me that it is active. Thanks for all the help guys.

You were exactly correct WSsick. The Zl550 is built with the L99 motor which does have the cylinder shutoff. It swaps the cylinders so frequently that it makes it seem like its missing when all it is doing is swapping the cylinders that are shutoff. Thanks for all the the help. Dad took it to the dealer and they checked everything and that is what they came up with. But we were unaware of it being the L99 motor. But i knew for a fact the LS3 or LS motors did not have the shut off. But we found out what he needed. Thanks for all your help. You were dead on with everything.
