Lets be real, most of the people that want it wont be able to afford it anyway. How many of yall are making payments on our 6-10yr old USED cars? If your going to be trying to get one of these your going to need a large down payment to get the payments to an affordable level. Our cars arent worth **** on a trade in and thats if its paid off... If the MSRP is 34k for the 2SS your looking at probably 40k OTD. Im going to wait a few years and let someone else take the hit on depreciation, before I pick up a nice used (probably repo'd) SS.

Base 2SS $34,180
RS Package $1,200
Stripes $395
Sunroof $900
Polished Rims $470
Total = $37,145
Doc Fee $300
Tag $20
Tax 7% $2622
Out the Door = $40,087
I might have missed a couple of fees in there. I'm not real sure what title costs are and taxes will vary based on state/county.
Payment with $0 down 60 months 6.57% (Bankrate) = $785.66 per month.
IDK about you guys, but I make a decent living, married, and have a kid. That's too much cheddar for me per month. That's almost as much as a house payment or rent per month.

In a strait line, through the 1/4 mile. Wow, what an accomplishment!
Back to the real world (unless you go to the dragstrip daily) the new Camaro will handle significantly better(and I would expect a much better steering and chassis feel), rides significantly better, brake significantly better (and won't fade after a few hard stops or warp the rotors), has more overall room, and is built many times better, with overall better engineering.
If all you care about it strait line speed buy a fox body and drop and LS1 in it, it will be cheap and quick.
The new Camaro is about overall performance, drive-ability and quality.
Then it looks like you wont be buying a new "pony car" seeing the only one that isn't $30,000 is the Mustang, which is only $4,000 shy, but wont deliver nearly as much car or performance as the slightly more expensive Camaro.
Wrong again, Challenger R/T starts at $30,990, they are the same price. For $4,000 over a base Mustang GT the Camaro SS absolutely obliterates it, I think thats a fair price difference...

I am not paying 30 some-odd thousand dollars for a pony-car.
However, go ahead and flame me...this is over-priced for a Mustang competitor...even the Challenger costs less.

I tried to get some info. on ordering one today, my dealership said they have no paperwork on the camaro. They are not accepting orders or deposits at this time. They even asked me to email a link to this thread, just so they could have the same info. I did.

For me:
1SS (leather is not necessary!) - $30,992
RS package - $1200
sunroof - $900
Sound system - $495
Spare tire - $150 (fix a flat won't do much good if your sidewall gets damaged)
Total - $33,737
Not bad.
I know tax+title adds to it but I'm just looking at the cost of the car itself. College bills and paying back college loans comes first though.

My Z/28 cost me 22k...brand new.
I have seen C6's under 40k. 35k plus a few thousand equals around 40ish, there are some good deals on C6's going on.
I want a cheap camaro with a V8 that is what this car means to the vast majority of us.
Oil prices are falling because the economy is falling. We are running out of easy to access oil...so I am not really wishing to spend top dollar on a gas-hog.
My 2002 Z/28 gets 30 mpg and cost me considerably less.

Yeh GM nailed the price on these cars. Now lets see how many ignorant people go out and pay 10K-15K over sticker for the 2SS/RS. It is inevitable dealers will do anything to make a quick buck. Many of us know better and will wait or at least shop around but there will be some paying way too much. GM is going to mass produce the crap out of these cars! I dont think you will have a hard time finding what you want for a good price after a while.

I agree with durrett, As badly as i want to be the first on my block with one (trust me its hard not to be) and wait till the rebates/financing come out plus it gives me a chance to use my gm card more to build up the 5% rewards. I can stomach the $35k but WTF are they thinking $4800 for 21" rims? Ill wait for those on ebay lol!!!

Ok, I am going to just say it...........YOU COMPLAINING PEOPLE ARE FREAKIN IDIOTS!!!!
Ok, I said it. Now, my 02 SS vert was $37k new. I understand there is no vert Camaro pricing yet, but I figured for the value of the car you are getting, the new Camaros would start in the mid 30s. I thought the fully loaded SS would be about 45k. GM priced this cars well and with the average middle class fan base pockets in mind. Great deal when compared to other type cars and options.

"perhaps GM will offer 4th gen type options to keep costs down. for instance. warping rotors after 10k of normal driving. slow window motors that go after regular usage. crap leather that wears out if you clean it. 10 bolts that break under stock power. cheap plastic that cracks and looks shitty. i miss anything?"
Ultimate Orange SS, that is some funny ****, LOL.
