The Z-28 is already made but chevy wont produce it because its not good for the company. just think about it.... you borrowed $14+ billion not million Billion dollars from the Govt. to bail your *** out of the BS you been doing over the past few years with those shitty vehicles they made. in return for borrowing money, you have to make a better car that uses less gas, and reach the 35 MPG standard by 2014 thanks to C.A.F.E Look at the Z-28 a 550+/- hp sportscar that will probably only get 18-22MPG its basically kicking the Govt. in the nuts saying FU Ill take your money and produce the car. its not gonna happen anytime soon

looks like the possibility of a Z-28 is now 0%.
GM filed for bankruptcy, and the government disbanded the GM performance dvision.
I just gotta give a big "**** you" to the auto workers union and the government. Well done. You greedy bastards in the union kept taking and taking, and bankrupted the company. You ******** in government kept siding with the unions over the last 30 or so years, and fucked GM. Now, there is no company.

Yes, it sucks, seems like GM faithfuls have been catching it in the pants for years, unless you can afford a new LS7 corvette. We get to watch other automakers produce cool, powerful stuff, and we get teased with now pay off. The Z-28 was supposed to be a 569 hp muscle car, yea, it would've cost like a Corvette, but atleast WE would've had the option of buying. I'm hoping and praying GM can get squared away and get back in the bad-*** car building business!!! ![Ripped](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies3/ripped.gif)

Whats pathetic is that if you look at the sales 42k camaro's were built in 2002 and 59.4 percent had the ls1.... It looks like disbanding gm performance is going to do nothing but dick GM for quite a few models...

The latest I have heard on this is that there will be no Z28. It almost brings me to tears to think of it,but estimated initial costs aproach 500 million dollars or something to that ridiculous nature. It was scheduled for release as a 2011 model in 2010,but with rising fuel costs and the posibility of bankruptcy(which actually just happened),they decided it was unnecessary. The Z28 was to come equipped with the same engine as the cts-v,essentially a de-tuned version of the LS9,because it is actually cheaper to produce than the 427 LS7. I am pretty positive of all the info I have distributed to you all on this b/c I have been contacting or trying to contact all types of individuals involved with possible production of the Z28. I have talked to at least a half-dozen or more who say its a no go. Now, I will have to settle for an SS,not like its a bad settle though. Hey, at least with this GM bankruptcy it should lower vehicle cost at least for the next year or so. Let's just wait and see.

02silver35thss got it right from where I'm sitting.
One thing is for sure though, the aftermarket will supply anything and everything one could imagine to do with their LS3/L99 5th gen. I agree that GM should have something in response to the GT500 but I guess we will leave that to ASP, Procharger, Hennessey, etc. I really wish the LS7 wasn't so damn expensive. For that matter I didn't realize that the LSA was available as a crate motor.
But at least there are these options...
