What I found most surprising is that they dont consider the new SS as a direct competitor for the GT because they dont cost the exact same. Like a few grand makes a difference on whether 2 products are direct competitor or not. The corvette and porsches are 100,000$'s in spreads.

But I Like how they compare the Cobra with the SS while there is a 30k$ difference from 30k$ to 60$k.

Some of them just don't know any better...like in the old days when the Z28 was within a couple hundred dollars of the GT and they always claimed their cars were cheaper so it didn't matter if they lose.

A GT500 is not anywhere close to 60k. MSRP on GT500s is 42k. And considering that you get a forged motor already built for boost
I don't htink that price difference is too bad. Yes I know that with an extra 12k over an SS you could make it a great performer but saying there is a 30k difference between SS and GT500 is just wrong.

No im not a mustang nut swinger I would still rather have an SS I'm just clarifying the facts here.

They have nothing to be scared of. As soon as ford drops that 5L in the mustang it's going to kick the camaro's ***.

the new Camaros are affordable im about 50/50 on getting one. I could pay 5,000-10,000 more and get a 06 z06.

not exactly even the 5 liter would be seeing tailights on the new maros. n/a vs n/a ford has nothing on gm and now with the ls9s we also own forced induction.

I just looked on KBB and it says people are paying 48k$ for one and msrp is starting at 44k$

Lets say its 50k-30k....20k$ difference almost. Thats 66% more than the Base SS.

Not to mention not too long ago they were going for 60-70k$ for them.

I am not denying that fords svt motor is a badass motor, what I am saying is that from a comparison between the existing GT and the Camaro SS, its definitely competition.

I love how they say there is no model to compete with the GT500. Just throw a KB or Maggy on the new Camaro and then the GT500 is toast. I hate it when people compare Forced induction cars to NA.

And quoted from www.mustangforums.com

"Anyone found out the compression ratio on the SS and V6 model? I read the LS1's and LS2's weren't super/turbocharger friendly and can blow at even low psi levels."

WTF?

Power to weight ratio is your friend. The 5L mustang is going at weight atleast 300-400lbs less then the SS.

Mustang GT = 3500lbs / 400hp = 8.75
Camaro SS = 3900lbs / 430hp = 9.06

Camaro loses

You know I dont mind comparing FI to non FI cars.... That doesnt bug me at all. Many are just ignorant to what a 430hp LS series motor is capable of and means to the GM community. As far as not FI friendly? HAH, just because the boost gauge never gets to 13Lbs doesnt mean it doesnt make power. It doesnt take much boost on LS vehicles to get a 50% increase.

It was a very close race, the Mustangs did not pull on the Caddy. Gearing can make up for torque off the line, and those 3.6L with the 6-spd auto are very aggressive off the line.

FWIW, we also owned a 2005 GT and that thing was a torqueless turd. The CTS is actually more enjoyable to drive.
