I see where you're coming from, but this isnt your "Typical American POS" V6 like was in our 4th gens, or any American-made V6 car from ANY maker in the last xx years. Direct injection really does make an engine more efficient, and respond better to mods. I cant wait to see DI on an OCH LS-based motor .

With it being a DOHC setup, i bet you'll likely see higher peak numbers than numbers "under the curve", but I wouldnt assume that we'll see low gains from mods on this motor.

I think its very well possible they are gonna restrict this engine from the factory. Look, if they market a 350 horse V6 for 23k and a 400 horse V8 for 30k....... ya.... exactly. Just like when they underrated the LS1 in F bodies to sell more Vettes.

You guys have to realize that especially nowadays - engines are VERY conservatively tuned, and with the accuracy of DI in a 4 cam engine you're just gonna have to face the facts that the 3.6 IS in fact a very potent engine. Hell, even the 3800 was detuned from the factory by 30% so customers weren't blowing up their 4T60e's.

with the low gearing of the 6speed transmission of the v6 model...coupled with a 4.10 or lower gear...that alone should put the car in the 13s. I for one can't wait to hear about someone with the above mods that finds a new model gt just waiting to pick on younger brother v6. Could be quite funny.

Stock for stock, mod for mod....the current GT's have nothing to fear from the upcoming sixxer Camaro. Period. All the fantasizing about the base 5th gen beating up on S197 GTs just because of the HP rating gives me a headache.

Don't get me wrong, GM has a great package put together for its base model Camaro.......and it will be a great bang for the buck car without a doubt. But some of you are letting it stroke your ***** just a little too hard. Running the DI sixxer up to 300 rated Hp was a psych-job aimed at Ford's V8 Mustang buyers. But if you honestly think its gonna be a GT killer, looks like the psych-job is on you.

of course this coming from blue blood. Stock for stock yes you are right. If the gt is stock and the 6 is not, thats a different story...the story I was talking about.

A v6 with a few bolt on's and a little nitrous would give a stock ss a run for its money..I wonder how long a v6 would hold up with a 125 shot?

If you get it tuned regularly, I'm sure it could handle a lot more

But comparing a stock car against a modded car is pointless too. Yea, the DI V6 with some mods may be beating stock GT's, but people mod Mustangs too. Beating a stock car with a modded car isn't really an accomplishment IMO. From an enthusiast stand points, what a car does stock is irrelevant since those people won't be keeping them stock.

Haha. Try 400 lbs. 200 lbs heavier than convertible 4th gens. The 5th gen is a disgustingly fat, heavy pig. Tack on ANOTHER 100 lbs. for the V8, too.

That is your opinion which you are entitled to

I think comparing a heavier v6 Camaro with a gear to a stock GT Mustang will be plenty of fun
