Default V6 and SS - Hard to Tell the Difference?

The V6's have the big wheel option, so the only major differences I can tell between the SS and the V6 cars are the SS badges, the air intake on the front, and an extra set of horizontal bars on the lower grill? Does this sound right?

These are fairly obvious when you are close, but not as obvious from a distance or at night. Might be a lot of people that opt for a dressed up v6 version.

Yup, basically...

V6 (non rs)

SS

The SS lower grill is a tad bigger along with the chin spoiler and mail slot, other then that everything else on the car is the same. Except the spoiler is not standard on the V6 cars unless you order it or get the RS package...spoiler is standard on the SS.

I think the V6 lower grill looks better myself, and i dont like the mail slot. Reminds me of the early 80's berlinettas.

Yea a lot of snobby V8 owners complained about this how they wanted more differentiation for their cars

Uhm . . . on the 4th gen it was even HARDER to tell a V6 apart from a Z28 . . . ?

So what's the point?

Other diffs . . .

Brakes. V8's get Brembos.
Tail Pipes. V8 tails are bigger diameter.

Agreed. I actually prefer the look of the sixxer's frontend to the SS'. It's much cleaner and sleeker.

Same here, I think the V6 looks better from more angles rather than the aggressive SS touches.

And the bow tie should be red on the SS, that big gold thing belongs on a truck or van. Strongly considering one though, ugh.

I think the reason on the lower grill is because on the v6 it matches the style of the main grill. A single horizontal slat in the middle with vertical ones. In that way I do like the V6 front better.

Either way, that lower grill is screaming for an intercooler

I just think that the lines between the SS and V6 Camaros seem to be blurred more on these cars than ever before.

GM is really making an effort to sell the V6 cars - they look pretty sharp.

Johnny, "ever before"? Compare a 4th gen Z28 to a V6. Those are far more confusing to distinguish, they shared 100% of the same body panels and wheels. If it weren't for a painted roof, most people wouldn't notice. So, the 4th gen was more similar between V8 and V6 than this new gen.

^That's true Tony, but the Z28 was sold along side the SS and the V6 cars. Now, all we have to choose from are the V6 cars and the SS cars. All I am getting at is that the two choices we have now look very much alike.

Good points from everyone - thanks.

For the first half of the 4th gen (LT1 era) you mostly only had V6 and Z28. An LT1 SS is fairly rare.

I cant tell a v6 camaro from v8 instantly. Just look for a dual or single exhaust. Problem solve!
