Default v6 camaro owners on ls1tech

Just wondering if there any v6 owners on 'tech and what are your impressions of the v6.

Is it worth it for a dd?

I've driven a couple v6s on rental. They are cool cars and have all the stuff I would want in a car except they are too slow. I could never pay that much for something so slow. I'm weird like that though. I'm just thinking a lightly used g8 could be had for low 20s, so for a similar price you could have some power. I would have to mod the g8 to make it driveable of course, but at least it would have potential.

Don't the new Sixers put down similar numbers to the LT1 4th gens? If not, they are very close.

Of course they won't compare to the V8s for speed, that's why the SS costs more!

I am interested too, overall impressions, fuel economy, interior wear, etc...

They are heavy, so the extra power isn't as noticeable. I rent a lot and I can tell you the v6 malibu has more *****. Fuel economy is good. Averaged around 25mpg mixed city and hwy. Interior is much nicer than a 4th gen. The seats are more comfortable too. I like the controls and the options. I can't live with the sunroof since I have a really long trunk, but most will fit. Visibility is a different experience. At first you think it's terrible, then after you adjust your mirrors and seating it's just fine. The mirror placement and size makes it work out better than the 4th gen. The trunk opening is way too small, but most buying this car wouldn't care about that.

I own a 2010 2LT/RS, A6, Sunroof I use it as my daily driver it's a great car runs with V8 mustangs I would put ti neck and next with the LT1 cars remove the tq mgt on the V6 cars and they will be a beast. Sure my MSRP was that of a 1SS (non RS, M6) I did not want the V8 (I am holding off for the Convertible 1st Qtr of 2011 for the Vert SS) mine is loaded I took advantage of GM Supplier plus the GM $500 60-day guarantee.

Well worth the $$ IMHO

They aren't slower than Malibus. For a V6, they are very fast, running low 14's equal to the 99-04 V8 Stangs and LT1 F-bodies. Quite impressive:

Malibu is quite a bit slower:

That's a pre-production, manual, non sunroof, RWD camaro vs FWD automatic loaded malibu 1/4 mile comparison. The curb weights are almost identical in those mag tests. Who knows what the weather differences were between the different test periods, since they weren't tested at the same time. I'm sure the actual weights are a bit farther apart and the auto trans in the camaro would put them much closer in performance in any test. Of course I'm cursed to live at altitude where the new Camaro is a 15 second car at best.

I own an M6 SS and test drove an A6 2LT last month when my girlfriend ordered her equinox. I was very impressed. It has a ton of pick up compared to any other V6 I've driven. I was surprised by the torque. It had no problem sliding around corners. I would love to test drive an M6 LT to see how it feels compared to my old M6 LT1. With the gas mileage and fact that it takes 87 octane I am very seriously considering a used one for a DD a couple years down the road. High 13's with a few small tweaks and 30 mpg's, I think I would get a black 2LT/RS to match my SS.

I guess a rental weekend is needed to put this to test.

When you say the trunk is small..in what terms? Like how trunks were on convertible 4th gens?

I 've seen trunk for g37 also, its pretty small but isn't thats expected of most of coupes these days anyway.

I'd say a 6 in a manual would be a cool dd. My ss is my daily though.

The trunk is huge compared to 4th gens. The opening is just small. Test drive is definitely the way to go. I test drove an ss for a weekend myself. I like everything about the car except I'm waiting for more power or to get used one to mod so it has decent power. I admit its a personal problem...

Nice car, 14.2 is impressive. I can't wait to see how these things pick up once they crack the ECM and tune it.

Meh, I don't know... I guess an M6 V6 would be a decent DD. My local dealer has an LS similar to yours waterproofer, and I think it looks kinda cool with the 18" black steel wheels and the chrome trim ring, and its only $24k I think...

by myself

Whats a ballpark or an average monthly price on these cars.

GM commercials are saying 13.89 for every 1k financed w/ a 11% down payment on a malibu , which is similarly priced.

Well $25k financed for 5 years at say, 7.5% would be right around $500 a month... You could stretch it out for 72 months but that's a long time to pay on a car. But then again the longest I've ever kept a vehicle is 2 years...
