ls7 swap
Do to a bad cam turning my 13k mile motor into trash and im pretty sure im going to get screwed on the deal Im putting an ls7 in my camaro. I know I have to switch oil pumps and pans but everything else should bolt up. I also believe there is one electrical connection that wont work, but Im not sure which one so if someone knows which one where can I buy it let me know. I also would love any tips that will help with the swap if anyone has any.

the cam sensor is in the front. I have a ls7 also. I'm converting mine to wet sump and some needs to be taken of the end of the crank of the 7. The knock sensor may also need a extension harness.

He's right, the snout on the LS7 is different for that dry-sump setup. Someone makes a spacer that allows you to run that LS7 crank with your standard wet-sump crank pulley though (sorry don't remember who off the top). Cam and knock sensors will be the same and in the same location LS7 to LS3, so no worries there. You'll have to get under the front cover (which I believe gets changed to the regular LS2/3 cover) and change to a standard wet-sump style oil pump as well. Change the pan, windage tray, etc.

ill try to get some pics,we had a lot of picsduring the cam change so that will show most of it.---old motor is out it wasnt to hard, tore it down this afternoon for parts to change the ls7 over to wet sump hopefully my seals bolts and spacers come in on time tuesday. Had to order bigger injectors for the ls7 because of the cam thats in it so that sucked another wad of cash out of my wallet.

well the up date is no update really in the middle of the conversion but am going to the shop to work on it tonite (parts came in today) so should be able to finish and get the motor stabbed hopefully tonight, then this weekend will try to blolt accesories on and fire it up. I am still waiting on some injectors since the ls7 is cammed my local tuner is saying the duty cycle will most likely be high. He may have just wanted to sale me fast injectors lol. but with any luck maybe this weekend. I really am wishing my f'n ls3 hadnt got chewed up this is more time consuming that i have time for right now but i guess hp is always expensive and time consuming.

got it in need a fuel line bracket for an ls7 the bolt holes on the intake are not the same distance as the ls3 so the ls3 bracket no workie on the new motor but all in all pending the motor doesnt have any issues from the sump conversion not too bad an install should be quite nice i really hope the original engine cover fits mines custom painted and I really dont want it to say corvette under the hood. May send off some z06 plastic to have it smoothed over and airbrushed if mine wont work
