I hope no one pays over sticker for this thing when it comes out. GM needs to make a **** load so they CANT mark them up 10-15k over sticker. Just like Ford does with the Mustangs.

Anyone know who Scott Settlemire is?

works at GM pretty important, he posts on Camaro5.com. check it out sometime, anyways he said that he couldnt tell us what would be in it but that we could forget anything we know about GM engines when it comes to the new camaro, because the public doesnt know, yet, about the engines they are going to use in it.

I was hoping for an LS2 Z28 and later a LS7 SS. If they put anything smaller than the LS1 in it i will not buy it (regardless of HP #s) because then Im sure larger engine options will cost similar to C6 Vetts and if that is the case I cant afford one. No way theyd make a Camaro with the Zo6 motor that cost less than the C6. For all i bash on mustangs i appreciate how they stayed true to the original calling. Affordable HP. Although i will always prefer a used F-bod to a new stang i can afford a new GT, IF I CANT SAY THE SAME ABOUT A CAMARO WITH AN ENGINE OPTION LARGER THAN THE LS1 ILL BE OUT TO BEAT THEM INSTEAD OF BUY THEM.

LS2 will be in the new Camaro. GM's own website says so.

http://www.chevrolet.com/performance/

click "performance features" at the bottom

"400-hp, 6.0 Liter LS2 V8 engine

Choice of automatic or manual transmisson with
widely-spaced ratios for aggressive acceleration

Rear-wheel drive with fully independent suspension"

This is refering to the show car that was doing the auro show tour. the ls2 along with the ls7 will be discontinued as standard performance engines by the time the camaro comes out, but they will most likely stay on as crate engines for GM performance parts.

I wish, that would be kickass.

the V6 camaro will have the LY7 3.6L with about 260hp, just like the G8... the Z28 will probably have the L76 6.0L with about 360hp, just like the G8... and if there's an SS, it'll probably have the LS3 with about 420hp... just a guess...

My guess is a 3.6L V6 for the base model, the LS3 for the SS version with arround 400 hps, and the supercharged LS8 for the top of the line Z28 over 500 hps.

I don't care about the v6 model or any entry level v8 because they would be too slow. Since this is a wish list, I hope it has a direct injected, variable valve timing, displacement on demand, forged 6.2L, supercharged motor putting down 500hp or more. There!

i dont see why some people get all mad about this crap...just some advice...it doesnt matter what you have read is going to be in it...gm can tell everyone one thing then do another just so their competition thinks they are putting something smaller or bigger in it...there is no use arguing about the new camaro...everyone will know soon enough...unless you want the i told you so bragging rights

im pretty sure what they'll do is put the 3.6 V6 in it with 260 hp, then to compete with the mustang GTs for price and V8 volume they will put the 6 liter that is in the G8 with around 370 hp, then the SS will get the LS3 with 430 hp, and the Z28 will get the LS8 with around 500

I read where the LS8 is more or less dead due to the new CO2 requirements. Then saw where the new Camaro ( if it even makes it into production ) will come with the 3.4 or 3.6 ltr six. Next will be the Z/28 with the 5.3 V8 , and the SS with the LS2 engine . This to me makes more since & might be able to slip this past the bean counters & the EPA with a Democrat in office .
