Default Who here runs Drag Radials on their cars and drives it almost everyday?

Like the title says, I want to know who here runs DR's on their car and drives it almost everyday. I am about to buy some MT ET Streets and just wanted to know what I can expect from them. I drive my 01 T/A WS6 every day except winter. (Just bought a winter beater) Come spring my car will be cam'd along with the following mods in sig. It puts down 360RWHP right now so needless to say if I wanna hook I need DR's. This past year since I owned it I used it as my DD. In the wet and dry, heavy rain storms, etc. In the spring it will probably go back as my DD and I am worried with DR's how it will ride/drive, especially if I get caught in a sudden storm. If I know the weather will be nasty ahead of time I can use my beater, but I love driving the T/A and drive it as much as I can.

My good friend has an 88 Notchback 5.0 with mods and has MT ET Streets and loves them, says they are great and his car is his DD. But I need other opinions. Thanks in advanced!

you will be fine....i run around on Hoosiers all the time and they're about the closest drag radial to a slick you can get

watch the weather and use your head and you'll be fine

well the m/t's wont be a good idea for a dd because of geting caught in the rain and also the m/t's are not the best for the hwy.
they are about the fastest wearing dr's and will last about 5-7k miles if that but will give the most street grip.
now some say the bfg's are good some guys hate them and its the same with the nitto's.
my buddy has a 04 sto with the bfg's on a spare set of wheels and they wouldent hook untill they was almost gone.
i dd my camaro in nice weather only and i have chrome zr1's with 275/40/17 nitto dr's and for me they hook really good on the street and will hook at the track if you heat them up enough and are good on the hwy.
i have put about 5k miles on mine and i go to the track almost every sunday and i heat my tires up good on each run not a funny car burn out but i spin em till i see smoke(ill put my side mirror down to see if there smokeing lol) and ill leave the track and drive home.
i did get caught in the rain a few times once in a very heavy down pour and they will spin a bit if you try to but there safe in the rain as long as your smart.
hope this helps.
i have a spare set of 2 wheels so whhen my nitto's are gone im eather going to get the mickeys or the hooser's and have they just for the track and i got some regular nitto 555's on order for the street.

you'll be fine but they only last a little over 3k miles. Nittos last longer but don't hook nearly as well. You don't really need dr's with your power, i have identical mods and am able to cut 1.8-2.0 60's on street tires and a lot of guys can do better. just save them for the strip and weekend fun. just watch out for rain.

i daily drove mine without issue, the MT are not the best hooking on the street IMO. they work better on the track. when they are new rain is no issue. when they get worn look out, the wear bars are there for a reason. when you get close to them you will not like it if you get caught in rain, but till they get worn they are fine. but unless you go to the track often i would suggest going with nitto's. they do good on the street and last longer. they wont do as good at the track but with your currant power you will be better off on nitto's for now. if you can t hook on them you need to do some suspension work to make them work.

Wow im seeing ALOT of different responses in this thread...

I drive about 40-50 miles a day in my T/A...I really do want DR's though, I know the power isn't really up there, but I need better 60' times. I can only pull off around 2.1's at best.

Ill have to agree if you want a DR that will last on the street dont run BFG's. i DD my car on these and after 2 track passes and 500 street miles there worn out but i dont nessisarly drive my car easy but still i expected more out of them. If your doing mostly street driving i would run Nittos.

These tires are GREAT for track, but once they heat up everyone though i was doing burnouts everywhere because the tires would leave feint tracks of rubber when i drove.

I have Nitto's...won't hook as good as M/T's, but they are awesome compared to regular street tires and I've never had any problems driving with them on in the rain.

im sure after you wear a set or two out you wont daily drive them ALL the time. if you drive alot, they get exspensive fast. best bet would be to get some suspension mods to help the short times and use the DR's at the track and just do ricer rolls on the street. haha

Seems to me that Nittos are best for mainly street use. Thanks for the help so far, keep the opinions comming in!
