let me start by saying I just read ALL 10 pages, I didnt see anyone mention the mobil 1 5000 / 15000 mile stuff is it diffrent than the plain "mobil 1 full synthetic" from say walmart. Second I have always used mobil 1 with no complaints BUT after reading several other post and losts of research I have became worried about my beloved mobil 1 so I switched this past weekend to royal purple (advanced auto had it on sell for $7 a quart) I have to say I haven't really gotten to drive the car so I can't say if acts or feels any diffrent, but I can say I was PISSED when I opened the first bottle the **** looks dirty brand new wtf. After doing some research I found that this is normal cause they dye it to look purple, big suprise wot. Anyway so how the f are u supposed to tell if its dirty after driving with in the engine for a while. Also after reading all this and useing both oils I think ams oil is going to b the oil for me from now on.

I'm a GC guy myself. I switched to synthetic on my Infiniti and bought the GC but damn I forgot how expensive it is with a k&N oil filter, so I bought the Penzoil and kept the GC for the TA. Penzoil platinum was on sale at walmart for 20 bucks for 5 quarts, which was great. Now my question is where can I see the comparison of GC and Penzoil Platinum side by side? Just curious
Last question...you use 5w 30 for the Penzoil right? Thanks guys

Edge is supposedly a good oil with virgin UOAs coming back with great numbers but for almost $8 a qt I would think twice about using it. Some people have tried it out but havent got to an oil change yet so who knows.

Almost all power lost through the engine and drivetrain is due to friction. Lowering friction lowers heat as well, which another good side effect of synthetic oil.
