Royal Purple or Mobil 1?

you dont drive during daytime?
either way. no. GC is a thick 30 weight oil, which is exactly what an LS1 likes. the 0w is just its cold rating. 100 degrees is ice cold to a motor that operates at around 200, FYI. you want a thinner oil on startup, so it will travel around the pistons, etc, easier. once it warms up, it becomes a thick 30w, almost a 40w.
one of the many problems of M1 5w30 is that its extremely thin, more of a 20 weight then 30. their 10w40 is better, but still far inferior to GC or other quality oils.

I drive it during evening when im home from work or other things. On sundays yes, I will drive it during the day. One thing I noticed about Mobile 1 is that it does burn quite a bit. Now, I also heard from a friend that M1 is not 100% synthetic. Is this true? He would always throw in Amsoil in his car claiming it was FULLY synthetic.
What other oils besides the 0W-30 GC are recommended? Is RP 100% synth?

M1 used to be full syth. read back a few pages in this thread and youll see what it really is. its a group 4 oil, or something like that. either way, long story short, its garbage and dont use it.
i would have no problems running amsoil. supposedly its best for putting it in, and just leaving it. if you put alot of miles on the motor, you can get very extended oil change intervals with amsoil. i change my oil twice a season, regardless of miles, so i prefer GC. even though people like patman have gone up to 7000 miles between changes with GC in his daily driven LS1 vette.
plenty other oils have been recomended in this thread. GC, penx plat, castrol edge are all fine.

I drive the car very little, id say no more then 4,000 miles per season. Im just super picky when it comes to my car, wether its mods and or maintenance things such as oil.
Whats this german castrol look like, Id like to know if I can find it up here in Canada.

The cleanest engines that I've seen have had Mobil 1 run through them. Royal Purple is a name.
I use 10w30 Mobil 1 in my car. Nothing else.

I've seen the tests. Mobil 1 may not come out on top compared to the other synthetics, but its not GARBAGE by any means, and its certainly hugely better than any cheapo dyno oil.
Royal Purple is probably the most overrated oil, ever. It does worse in wear tests than almost all the other synthetics, yet it costs the most. Its a rip off. BP just filed a "challenge" against all of RP's outrageos claims, and it looks like RP may end up being embarrassed when the numbers are published.

OK Ill bite on this Oil thread
I used to use regular castrol syntec 5W-30 in my LSX cars but now Im using Castrol Edge. Supposedly protects for 10000 miles or something like that. Now Im still changing every 3000 miles but the thought of an oil being able to hold its integrity longer therefore give better protection makes me give it a thumbs up. Runs smooth and uses NO OIL. Im approaching 3000 miles and it still hasnt used a drop of oil.
For those of you who dont know the reason you change the oil is that it breaks down from dirt over time (Not just because it gets "Dirty") It becomes thinner, lose its integrity, and, especially in the case of synthetics, the cleaning agents begin to break down and become less effective,
Castrol edge's claim is that they have engineered an oil that can hold its viscosity and the agents in the oil can hold together longer so you can drive you car for 10000 miles on an oil change. For me that means the oil is going to hold its own under the harshest conditions and therefore is better for cars under a lot of stress.

what he said. I am also going to be using the new castrol Edge on my next oil change.

You obviously have a personal beef with Mobil 1, none of the things you've said in your post can be backed up with any facts.

if you really belive all the M1 hype, go right ahead and keep using it. no skin off my ***. if you claim youve seen the tests, then how can you not notice M1 5w30 scored BELOW even regular dino oil??

The main thing that I noticed about Mobil 1 is that the motor does like to burn it up, and for what its worth my car is bone stock with 21,500 original miles on it.
Is Amsoil fully synthetic?
