I now use GC. I previously used Royal Purple but really couldn't justify the cost anymore. The engine is a lot quieter with the GC as well so that's good. Have only been using it for about 200 miles so ill report back after a while and see if all is still well. I also use Mobil 1 filters as well.

It's amazing that every "expert" on here says not to go with Mobil 1 when Porsche, Audi, BMW + a few more...and Chevrolet's engineers have been putting that little sticker on your oil cap for the last 20+ years...they obviously didn't test different viscosity's and bearing tolerances. I will continue with what was prescribed for my motor by those who designed my motor.

Mobil One is good oil. I had used it for many years. It’s just that a few people have done some pretty in depth oil analysis and testing under various conditions. The German Castrol has pretty consistently out performed other lubricants, even "newly formulated" oils that have come to market over the years.
It’s like this: All top tiered oils do their job remarkably well and are all within 10% of each other in performance.
Mobil One, Royal Purple, Lucas, Amsoil, Joe Gibbs Castroil GC, all are good high quality oils and I don’t think you’d go wrong with any of them. It comes down to cost and availability.
I’ll use and recommend the German Castrol. It’s now available at Pep Boys and Auto Zone and can often be had on sale.

I'm a douche
After reading my post from 2:30 am this morning i realized i came off as a total A-hole and that was not my intention. No offense to anyone and I by no means think of myself as an expert or smarter than you guys on here. That's why i've got 80ish posts in 3 years. I learn something new every day on here and use the search feature religiously.

Found it. The Royal Purple filter is made by Champ Labs with synthetic glass media that's likely licensed from Donaldson.
Decent looking filters, very similar to Mobil One filters. Add it to the list of good filters. I don't think it's worth the extra bucks for the color tho.

I can understand that. I can't understand people saying its garbage oil.

BTW you werent an A-hole at all. Its the internet after all.
I noticed this the other week as well. I pulled about 4 filters out of the box until I figured out it was the same filter as the Mobil 1.

I went to my local auto/hardware/everything store (canadian tire) and found GC. The only thing I noticed is that in one row, the GC's have one type of cap on the bottle, while the other row a slightly different style. After carefully studying the bottles, it looks like they are the same. Both say made in germany in the back.
As for oil filters, all this store carries is their own brand, quaker state, and fram. I really dont even know where to get any of the other filters you guys mentioned.

Striker, the oil inside the bottle is practically the same. One of them is green and the other is a yellowish color. The yellow has been MARGINALLY better than the green.
You can get the majority of filters at an autoparts store. However, if you dont have any you can order off the net from amazon, summit or other parts places.

Guys, as the original poster of this thread I have came to some conclusions. Until I started this thread, I was a die hard Mobil 1 fan. Since this thread I decided to try out Royal Purple oil to see what differences I could notice. For starters, RP has been so much cleaner then mobil 1, its kinda hard to believe. After about 1k miles on mobil 1, it looked like this stuff needed changed already. The other thing I noticed was, my car does not burn any oil, period. My car for some reason, would eat up mobil 1. I want to give Gc a shot, but its impossible for me to find.
