Default How much did it cost you to do H/C?

I was planning on spending around $2200 from Texas-speed but after adding up everything up with all the little things my total comes to about $3100.

Does this sound right?

1210 heads
380 cam
20 pushrod checker
110 pushrods
134 DR timing chain
120 ls7 lifters
130 degree kit
150 ported oil pump
225 pulleys
35 belts
400 bolts & Gaskets
170 SFC

Can i get anything cheaper anywhere else? I really wanted to get some tires and more suspension mods... but i only have $3500 budget ( had $4400 but some things came up )

If you have anything in my list for sale i might be interested in it when i get my taxes let me know what you got!

i'd use an ls2 chain. wouldn't worry about lifters, degree kit or oil pump. if you are dead set on degreeing the cam see if you can find a degree kit to borrow. not saying that you shouldn't degree the cam but thats one way to save money.

The LS1 oil pump is pretty weak. I got a used ported LS6 one pretty cheap. I'm pretty sure upgraded oil pumps are worthwhile.

Not changing lifters is a mistake IMO unless it is a very low mile motor. I mean damn you are right there. For $120 you are risking having to pull your heads AGAIN in the near future and possibly wiping out the cam too. Plus the cam you are prolly going with has more agressive ramp rates than stock which puts extra stress on the lifters anyway. I replaced them on my 60k motor when my heads went on and just look at it like cheap insurance.

Wise move to replace the pump too. More cheap insurance

If you are already pulling the heads you may as well change the lifters IMO

That $1,200 Could Be Spent on Spray.
It'll Get You A Lot More HP than Just Heads.

I Just can't see spending that much money on something that's only going to put out 30-50hp. N20 is Around a Grand and its 250hp whenever you want it.

375 w/cam only
200 Shot w/N20

545-565rwhp.

i may be wrong but a 200-250 shot on a stock bottom seems a little high.

To do it right, I spent over $5000. Don't regret a penny of it either. If you're gonna do it, do it right. Sure, nitrous is cheaper but I like it to have *** whether I hit a button or not. N/A all the way for me.

You're Right.

But That 150hp is still ~100hp more than those heads would put out.
