The Vin won't tell you anything unless you take it to the dealer and they look up the options.
Jack it up and see how many times your driveshaft spins for one rotation of the rear wheels. You'll need to mark the driveshaft with something to make it easier (chalk or silver paintpen).

Z rated tires are responsible for the cars the 155 speedo.
Case in point my old `94 Formula was an A4 w/2.73's and GSC tires and had a 155 speedo.

It's in your RPO codes on the door. Go to this site:

and enter your RPO numbers. One of them is your gear ratio. If it happens to be GU5 you have 3.23's. I know 'cause that's what I have.

The only method I can think of is to put the car up in the air, put it in 4th (or whatever's 1:1 in the trans) and count the revolutions of the driveshaft vs. the wheels. Do the math and you got your ratio.

nope, they were only responsible for a speed limiter. All LS1 f-bodies came with a 155 speedo, no matter your gear, your tire, or anything else.

Would this work? When helping rebuild the rear on a friend's car, I counted teeth on the ring gear, divided by the number of teeth on the pinion gear and came up with a number surprisingly close to, if not exactly 3.23...and wonder of all wonders, he actually had 3.23's in his car. Just seeing if that's coincidence, or if i stumbled on something there.
