computer has high/low octane tables, car will run considerably better using 93! but it wont kill it to use 89... i only use 93 though, its 20 cents more a gallon, only a few bucks more per fill up, like 2 or 3 dollars, dont feel like doing the math.... but in the end its better for it and will thank you in the end!

doesnt really matter, 91+ will give you your best mileage, but a stock ls1 will run on 89 or 87 fine, it will just retard the timing and not give you as much performance/mpg

Run what the car needs. I ran 89 in mine never heard the slightest knock, so I stayed with it. My wife had a 97 Z28 and it needed super to run without spark knock. There is no sense running more octane than the engine needs, it won't get you better miliage unless the fuel you were using was causing spark knock and the PCM was pulling timming.
ALSO...The PCM does not have high and low octane timming tables. Low octane fuel will cause spark knock which will cause the PCM to pull timming. PERIOD. It does howver have different tables for when the engine is in limp mode.
