C5 ZO6 Best Value?
I was thinking about trading in the 2000 SS camaro and getting a 2002-2004 C5 zo6. I was thinking that there is nothing that can touch it figuring a car under 25k new or used. Is there any one who can think other wise?

2001 Z06!
Easily under $20k.
Oil consumption issue is barely an issue. You won't know you are 'missing' 20hp.
Spend the extra money on a new/better clutch (and some bolt-ons), then you can drive the car as hard as you want.

Like stated above 01 Z06. Some minor differences from the 02-04 Z's but they can be had for under 21k all day. Also a Fixed roof coupe is another Idea and I too sold my SS for one of these. They are light as hell same body as a Z06 but with a LS1. They can be had for around 16-17k easy

there was a yellow 02 z06 out here with 50k for 19500 a while back. My jaw hit the floor when i saw it, not a nick on it you could tell the guy was ready to cry even thinking of selling it.

he said he wanted something that could keep up with it..
i watched an 03 cobra with full exhaust/intake/water cooled/drag radials and making 10-11 lbs of boost (more than stock) get walked on by an 03 zo6 with a CAI and street tires...
if a zo6 has long tubes/radials/exhaust/cai/tune it would take a ported blower to run with it..
you wont touch that.. tune and pulley would put you at around 400rwhp tops..

I'd go Z06 for sure. But on the Cobra issue, I guess I have been lied to..? many people with Cobras have told me $2k towards intake/exhaust/pulley/gears/tune will get you over 500 to the rear wheels.
That would be one fun DD, if I must say so myself... but appearance-wise, even Cobra owners agree Z06's are sexy as hell.

still though.. if you take those mods.. all it would take on a zo6 is headers exaust intake tune and drag radials and you could go have fun with cobras all day!
hell or you could procharge the zo6... there was a thread not long ago with one.. made like 600rwhp on 8-9 lbs...
