It is helpful in the rain but if you drive with some common sense it is not necessary.

I let my GF drive home one night from the bars after a rain cause she only had a couple drinks. When we got in the car I said whatever you do "DON'T MAT IT". Two blocks from her house she gives in to temptation and kicks it and next thing you know we hop the curb and are facing the other direction I was so pissed I didn't even speak to her til the next day cause I knew I would blow up No I don't have traction or it would have been on

Yes it is helpful...
Don't even show her how to turn it of/on...
It should always be on, until you turn it off.

I always turn mine off, but I like the idea of having it. It does help in the rain.

Soldier to future Soldier: I left for deployment engaged, came back engaged, found out two months later she had been unfaithful. Not saying this'll happen to you, but, put your car in storage and keep it there until you get back, if you value your personal property at all. I got lucky, I knew before she knew I knew, so I had the upper hand. I don't trust ANYONE that is not family.

I'm going to agree with this guy 100%. It is especially helpful in the rain.

The first thing I always did after starting my car was to turn the tcs off. I deleted it when I did my M9 last yr.

If someone will be driving the car that's not familiar with how they react in different conditions, traction control will help a lot at keeping them in check. I like the advice given above, don't even tell her it can be turned off.

I agree that saying out of the pedal is the best way to be safe, but I don't get why you guys turn it off for every day driving. I turn it off if I'm going to launch or something, but I don't bother for regular DDing. Just doesn't seem like there is a reason to turn it off unless you're running hard.

Cause my car isn't a daily driver, and it didn't take much to break the tires loose, or haze them over on a spirited run. I didn't like the tcs kicking the pedal back on me at an unexpected time. I didn't take it out on rainy days either so I had no use for it at all.

Even if I was driving it quite normally, I would still tend to get on it to pass people or just because I wanted to, and it was easier to have it off from the start then to try and remember to flip it off before I hit the go pedal.

It does help in the rain, but u have to be easy with the gas pedal. I tend to spin the tires even under regular driving.

I installed the SLP TCS reverse switch so the default setting is 'always off' unless I decide to turn it on. But if I were leaving the car with someone else I would take that back out and leave it 'always on'.

im iffy about the tcs i absolutely hate it at stop lights on wet roads one lil chirp and im sittin there for a few secs motionless with the person behind me honkin and yellin, my tires are great still 7/32 tread left on g forces and it still does it. also just the other day out to lunch from work it was rainin and i pulled out into an intersection with plenty of time til mr low traction your not going anywhere anymore light came on and almost got me hit by a truck
now in the snow it works wonders once you get moving but will keep you in your spot alot of times til you turn it off to get yourself moving, even with my snow tires

but yeah for someone else driving it i would much rather have tcs and would rather them not know how to turn it off
