Default Traded TA for Chevy Silverado

Well i traded in my car for a 2005 black chevy silverado 4.8 liter V8 4 x 4 ext cab short box and it definately doesn`t have as much power as the car had so i`m looking at doing some long tube headers with true dual straight pipe exaust and a cool air intake. So i`m wondering what kind of horsepower increases and MPG decreases i would be looking at? This truck and the motor thats in it is all new to me so any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

I did the opposite Sold my lifted 2000 Z71 so i could get the car. I really liked the truck but had the itch for another car. I put a K&N intake and true duals on it with flowmasters and didnt really notice a gain in MPG but def gave it some more power. Only noticable change i had was 16-17 mpg before lift and 12 mpg after That got old quick. Funny thing was a dealer offered me $7500 for it in 2005, i left laughing and sold it 2 weeks later for $12,500. So whats the 4.8 rated at for HP?

the 4.8 is a decent motor. I know of a guy in my local car club with a single cab 4.8 truck running low 13's. with esxh. and cam. your best bet is to get on performancetrucks. they know there stuff on trucks over there.

5.3 here... 17 hiway 13-14 city with heavyass 285/75/16's. The 305 70/16's were worse. Stock tires 18-19 hiway EASY. Big tires will slow it down too and hurt braking but I hunt a lot so it is worth it to me.....

Yeah there is plenty of room under there for a turbo

So as not to confuse you mods below are on my 98 T/A LOL

hahah i sold my 2000 lifted silverado, thing was super mean, shaved door handles, shaved tail lights even, remote start, 3 built in dvds, 2 12"s, meanest truck in the world, for a stock 02 camaro z28, i regret it because about a month later i ditched my long commute, but i have a buddy with an 05 sierra, 4.8 with aem brute force intake and gibson side sweep exhaust or whatever and he gets like 21mpg cruisin i dont think highway or street makes too much of a difference but he said after each of those mods he could feel a little bit more power, i couldnt but thats because not much feels like power after owning my wrx or my z28.

Gears, headers, intake, tune, exhaust, p&p tb.......50-75 wet shot even maybe??? After installing any of those performance mods your going to want some good traction bars, cal trac makes great ones for trucks, and if its a auto a good shift kit and or better servos, stall, and tranny cooler would really help also. Check out Summit Racing or stylin concepts for the truck stuff.

for you getting 12 mpg did you re adjust the odometer and speedometer and all that jazz. haha i had my lifted truck and i compared it to real numbers and i learned whatever the spedometer said i was going i was going that x 1.2 and same with mpg, speed, and distance.. so you may be getting like a full 14/15..not that it really matters

I had my TB ported by New Era and SLP has the pulley (Maryland Speed sells it for about $200 shipped)

I have been looking for a cold air kit and a catback for my 09 Silverado too, but have not found what I want yet.....not as many options as we have for f-bodies.

Good luck with that because in a few months or so you will be selling it to get another F-Body. If I ever did that i would give someone permission to beat me to death with a bat

I bought a new RCSB '05, that was a good running truck w/ the 5.3. The 05-06 4.8's and 5.3's were rated within 10 hp of one another. A buddy of mine had an 04 4.8 and we'd run pretty close to one another from a roll. It ran low 15's with a flowmaster 1-chamber (new), spinning at San Antonio Raceway. I raced on 05 (new then) Hemi Ram in the Grudge races that night and beat him by half a truck or so. I traded it on a 3500 Cummins after I had several problems that new trucks shouldn't have had, (if you want to know PM me). I realy miss that truck, but don't know that I'd trade a nice f-body for one. What company were you looking at for headers? I don't know if I can do this but look at these. http://www.clearimageautomotive.com/...%20headers.htm I used their headers on my LT-1 b-body and love them, great quality and lifetime warranty on coatings(or was when I bought mine). I have no affiliation with them, just refering them because of my experience with their product. Gl, with your choice!
