Default What Company Built the WS6???

I have been a Camaro Guy my whole life. I know that SLP built the SS Camaro's. I just got a killer deal on a WS6 and was woundering what company built the WS6 SLP? I am just wanting to be more informed on the history of the WS6 and what all went it to them.

I forget the break down but I thought SLP built all of them in the later years.

SLP built the Firehawks. I dont think they had anything to do with the WS6. WS6's have been around for a while.

SLP built the trans ams and formulas into firehawks. However the ws6 package is from gm and built from them as that package dates back decades.

The SS package dates back decades too, but it wasn't built by gm... WS6 package was built by ASC, not gm.

I happened to come across this post and began to ponder an answer.

Here is what I found :

02 NBM TA WS6 package has a line on the build sheet that states

CAF - HANDLING CHARGE-ST. THERESE TO AMERICAN SUNROOF

02 41U Black Firehawk Formula WS9 WU6 has a line on its build sheet :

CAE - HANDLING CHG-ST. THERESE TO TO SLP LASALLE QUEBEC

The cars went to the alternate locations for parts swap, hood, air box, wheels. Then on to dealers.

Any questions?

97 and older WS-6's WERE built by SLP along with SS's, Firehawk's and Comp T/A's. In 98 and up WS-6's were built by pontiac i thought that page about ASC says nothing about the WS-6, Firehawks and SS's were still built by SLP.

as i recall this is correct in that prior to 98 the WS6 upgrade was done by SLP. 98-02 WS6's were done by ASC(American Sunroof Corp)

Check here for ASC history http://www.coachbuilt.com/bui/a/asc/asc.htm

Now what does a WS6 Conversion Mean? Upgraded Suspension. Cause as I look under the car everything looks like a stock f body. Is it just a badge?
