Swapping to a 6.0 got a few questions
Well im not sure where to put this so here it goes. I blew the ol 346 up in my 98 z28 and now im going to be moving up to a 6.0 and converting to a th400 as well. My question is will I have to use the pcm for the 6.0? and in doing so i think since my car there are a few things that are different such as the temp sensor in the wiring harness. I'm curious of just how much work is going to be involved in this swap to make it work?

Keep your 1998 Temp Sensor and PCM..as well as all the Wiring, it will hook up(I'm using a 1998 Temp Sensor in mine ).
I would take the 6.0l Coils if you can get them, the ones from your 1998 won't work, the 1998 Valve Covers won't work either.
You will have to drill & tap a hole on the driver's side front of the 6.0l Block for the Alternator Bracket.
Also make sure that you don't have the extended Crank on the 6.0l.
All your Bolt-ons will still work, I would install that MS4 Cam into it.
Then after you have it all installed, get it tuned.

The Coils on your 1998 bolt to the Valve Cover, and it has them pain in the *** perimeter bolts. On the 6.0l they will be Center Bolt Valve Covers with Coils that are on a Bracket bolted to the Valve Covers..look close and you will see it.
Yea you will need your Camaro Oil Pan, Pickup, and Windage Tray if you run it.
Look on back of the 6.0l Block, if the Crank extends past the Rear Main Seal about 3/8" then it's the extended one. If it's flush then you are good.
If it does extend out, look close and see if there is a groove, that's a Spacer and can be removed. Some didn't have a Spacer and pretty much need a normal Crank..no way around it.
Post a pic of the back of the Crank and we can tell you.

thanks man i understand everything you pointed out and i already have the coil problem solved. I floated the valves on the heads on my 98 awhile ago and bought heads from an 02ss along with centerbolt valve covers and coil brackets. I was reading something about maybe needing a knock sensor extension? other than what you told me here is it just pretty much plug n play? also assuming i need to take the motor mounts from the ls1 as well.

Yea you take the Mounts from your Car off the Block and bolt them to the 6.0..they will work fine.
Your Knock Sensors are fine, they will work perfectly as they are. The Gen IV Engines are what need the Extensions(LS2, LS3, LS7, L76, L92).
Everything you have will work, just drill & tap that hole, and stick it in.

It was normally the ones with iron heads that had the extended crank. They were the early model years though
But since you are going to a turbo 400. I would actually look for one since you will not need to run that spacer and it should bolt right up.
