CTS-V vs G8
I did a search and didn't find anything
Anyway comparing the G8 To the CTS V, you can get a 2008 G8 for the same price as an older CTSV 2005-2006...
The specs I am looking at:
G8 - L76, 6.0, 361 hp / 385 torque
CTS - V - LS6, 5.7, 400 hp / 395 torque
Is there an easy way to make up the deficit in hp on the G8? Broad question, I know.. and I am not looking for a supercharger price level mod, lol..
I don't like the G8, as its only Auto and kinda looks like a BMW, but not deal breakers..
Thoughts?

Well, the 2004-2005 CTS-V's have the LS6 motor which has 405HP and the 2006-2008 (I think) use the LS2....400HP/400TQ. If it was me, I would hold out for atleast a 2006 for the bigger/better motor, IMO.
I see what you mean about the G8, the highlights are there but the looks are kinda off to me as well. I like the CTS-V 10x better than the G8.
Some intake, exhaust and probably a tune will net the G8 some power. But then again, if you did that to the CTS-V, its ahead in power again.
I would say you really need to go and test drive both cars to see which you like better.

If an older CTS-V is the same price as the G8 like you are saying, I'd definitely go with the G8. I have driven both, and the build quality of the G8 far exceeds that of the CTS-V. The interior of the G8 is way nicer, the chassis feels more solid, and not to mention a new G8 is 2-4 years newer than the outgoing CTS-V model. When I drove the CTS-V, I noticed that the stock shifter felt like garbage, and the interior felt like as if it was going to depreciate rapidly within a few years (see the fourth gens with leather seats of today). I also remember reading about the weak rear axle assembly that plagues the outgoing CTS-V platform. Clutch dumps from 3k in a CTS-V? I don't think so!
I understand that you want to know which car makes more power. I feel that the power argument does not hold a candle to the overall quality of each vehicle. In the end, thats what makes the difference to me. In whichever way you choose to go, good luck with your new ride.

CTS-V as new as you can with the least amount of miles
The G8 is nice but is a foreign car with foreign car issues. They may appear nice but do some research, they are having crazy **** go wrong. Stupid annoying stuff that shouldn't plague a $30,000+ car that's trying to compete with BMW. The GTO was the same way.
Plus I hate to say it but it's a Pontiac which is a dead marque. Just like the Oldsmobiles & Plymouths they will depreciate twice as fast as they normaly would have as the "public" won't touch them.

Do you want a new car with a warranty or a better looking more powerful car?
You can get power out of the G8 pretty easily with some mods and tuning, and you would be buying a newer car with a warranty.
'04/'05 V's have an LS6 5.7 400 hp 395 tq
'06/'07 V's have an LS2 6.0 400 hp 395 tq
As for the shifter comment - true, the stock V shifter sucks but it can be replaced very easily for a couple hundred bucks.
As for the rear end comment - yes, there are some troubles, but the '06+ rears are stronger and many '04/'05 cars have been upgraded already under warranty. I have ~440 rwhp and 415 rwtq and daily drive my car hard and I haven't had any diff problems in the 2 years I've owned it.
Vs also come with all options standard - heated seats, navigation, etc.
If I were you, I would go drive both, crunch the numbers, then make a decision.
