Default Going to buy an 06' tbss

Before i but this 3SS TBSS, is there anything i should know about the suv?
I have heard they have the same transmission problems as the 4L60e i believe they have the 4L70e.
Seems like a very nice suv, drives very nice kinda quick and can tow.
Anything negtive to ad?

There are no 1SS, 2SS, 3SS in 06. They are LS or LT models only.

The "X"SS models are for 07 and 08 only.

GM has a 100k warranty on the drive train. So don't worry about hurting the trans.

Actually only the 07's and 08's have a 5 yr, 100k drivetrain warranty, the 06's just have a 3 yr, 36k warranty all around.

My wife has an 07, she loves it and I run the **** out of it. A tune is a must if you plan on playing with it. headers and a tune has it at 369 rwhp. 13:60 in the 1/4. other than that no prblems yet. 33,??? miles so far. The tires are really cheap too..$102.00 each for Goodyear's.

If you have enough money i would suggest looking into the JEEP SRT8 too. They are significantly faster then the TBSS. And IMO much nicer interior wise and looks wise but thats subjective to your own opinion.

When a buddy of mine bought a brand new one about a year ago we went to the track and he ran a 12.9 bone stock, after 2 days of ownership. Very impressive in my mind considering how luxurious and huge it is

Those jeeps don't hold up well at all. There fast but if it's not running it's worthless. Got a friend on his second one he thought the first one was a fluke. Just a exhaust system. They were 06 & 08

I had an 06 tbss and i miss that truck. Like they said the tires from the factory are **** and watch out for paint chipping in front of the rear tire. There is a TSB about the paint . There is also a good forum called TRAILVOY.COM with alot of good stuff. The only thing that was a problem on my truck was the tranfer case seal kept leaking and i had it in for service 3 times for that and they finally got it right. hope this helps a little good luck dude.

Hmm wrong....

The SRT-8 is A LOT more money and not a lot faster, I actually raced one tonight and was RIGHT on his rear bumper in my TBSS. They are only faster out of the hole. The TBSS pulls harder up top. Put a converter on my TBSS and he won't even be close.

I will agree they are much nicer interior wise, but you sure do pay for it.

Not to mention you can't tow with them.

TBSS all the way.

No problems with mine. The tires from the factory are good for 25 to 30 thousand miles and then there done. Gas mileage is around 14 to 16. Mine is for sale 16,000 Black with cloth seats and 60xxx miles. Great price if your interested, pm me.

Whoever said you can't tow with a srt 8 jeep is wrong. I work for curt manufacturing and the owner has one and we bbuilt a hitch for it. So you can get a hitch from the aftermarket that when not in use, you can't even see it

I bought my TB SS new and love it. It's my DD and it drives great with no problems. The only reason I would hestitate buying a used one is because some people beat the crap out of them. My only true complaints are terrible gas mileage with AWD (14.7 mpg), and stock tires that are absolute junk and do not belong on a SUV. I replaced them with different Goodyears that are much better in every category from handling and steering response to better traction in all conditions including rain and snow. As mentioned above a tune really wakes them up.

Thanks for all your answers!
Tomorrow at 8:00am the tbss will be going to a personal shop of mine to have a "fine tooth brush comb" run through it to see what it has been through, i do not have time because i am in finals and i need to study.
The person who owned it before me was a lady.
The truck is AWD leather, moon roof, navi, the works...
By tomorrow after noon i will know the whole story and i will post pictures.

I had an 05 TB (not an SS) and the wind noise was horrible at highway speeds. The website noted above has lots of info. on this subject. I had my TB about six months and sold it to buy a new Silverado. Good luck!!!
