Default Those who drive mostly in town (city), what kind of mileage are you getting?

I mostly drive my Formula in town (stop and go traffic mostly, with only a few miles in between of a highway), and I am seeing about 12 mpg on average.

I am trying to see the average mpg of others who have LS1s (prefferably modded) who drive mostly in town.

Post up your car and mods done to it as well as your city/in town miles per gallon.

I'll add a poll as well.

All these numbers are coming from all in town driving only? If so, I am pretty impressed that you guys are getting that good of mileage.

That, or I am just getting really bad mileage. My original posted mileage was staying out of the throttle the entire tank as well...

Yup. Mostly stop and go traffic with a few miles on the highway. To get 18 MPG, I've really got to be pretty light on the throttle though.

^ Finally someone who seems to have accurate mileage. My 614 RWHP blown F-body gets 20 on the highway. I don't know how you guys are getting high teens in town...

Heck, the sticker on the F-body said it got 24 on the highway and 16 in town when they were stock. Modding them with heads and an agressive cam will not increase the in town mileage... I am confused here I guess...

My buddy also when he was stock got close to that.. Although he got 24/28, he had 2.73s and was truly bone stock, plus he is better at keeping his foot out of it!

The EPA ratings were off on the cars by about 5 mpg honestly. The gearing in these cars are one thing that helps them get such amazing MPG compared to other v8 and v6 cars. Hence the same reason the ls1 gets almost (if not better in some cases) better MPG than the V6s.

Just keep your foot out of it and you should see almost 18+mpg min. and 24+mpg on highway.. If not, I would think it would be time for a complete tune up.
