Default MAF question

I recently just bought an SLP MAF not knowing when i got it, it says for a 2004 GTO. I have a 2000 z28, and my question is will it still work? It does not fit into my stock air lid, however i planned on buying a SLP lid anyways. Does anybody knwo if one it will even work, and two if it will fit on the SLP lid. btw its an 85mm MAF, part number 23063 on summitracing. need help asap please.

It has all the same hookups and it fits on the throttle body, just not to my air box that i currently have. The wires even all plug in. I know the 04 GTO's had an LS1, so idk.

Unless you're making big power, sell it in the classifieds and keep your stock one anyway.

problem was GM told me it was bad and it was 200 fo a stock one, so i might as well spend the money on a performance one.

but sometimes the "performance" ones rob you of power.

if you aren't getting tuned for it, stick to stock.

And how does it fit "on" your throttle body...there should be the bellow in between. And if it hooks up, it probably would work, but you will need an 85 mm lid. Also, from what I've heard, they are (for the most part) junk and tuners hate them. And anyways I believe the stocker is good to 500hp.

Well i just sent it back in to get the right part anyways. I will need to get a tune with it, I am pick up an SLP lid off of a guy on here as well for 50. Anybody know where I can get a tune around Fort Wayne IN? I want to start getting performance parts, and this is jsut a start. Ya gotta start somewhere lol. I also have LT's and exhaust on here, so I need a tune anyways, just need to figure out where to get it done.

You dont understand lol, I already bought it i cant keep the stocker. The stock MAF was making my car shift hard because something was wrong with it and the stock MAF from GM was like 330 bucks, where as this one was only 200. It was cheaper through my aunt who works at GM but still more expensive. I dont see why I would keep the stock one, Ive been adding performance parts and this is just another step. I wish somebody would come on here and give me useful advice not just knock a product it gets really old. What did you have bad luck with one or something?

The actual function of it should be the same. It's just a 0-5v sensor, and since the GTO is an LS1, the values corroborating to the different voltage points should be the same. Good luck!
