The MS4 is tolerable with a good tune. If ur doing the speed limit on the highway in a M6 car w 3.73's you will be riding 5th gear to keep the cam happy below approx 75 mph. I don't daily drive mine, but it see's around town and highway use and I wouldn't hesitate to use it daily if I had to for some reason. Don't expect great fuel milage. Though I've yet to determine if the crappy milage is related to the set up or just the fact that I'm standing on the fuel peddle. Hope this helps some.

Yeah the extra cubes will make it a little more tolerable and with a GOOD tune that cam can easily be a DD. Have a buddy with one in a 383 and it has better manners than my little 230/234 cam.
Rob makes a good point about the valvetrain and it is one reason I chose a milder cam.......

ok my intentions are simple I want a 500hp N/A street beast in a ls2. I figured with a
MS4, ported FAST 102/102, worked over set of 243's, kooks 1"7/8 longtubes, kooks street screamer cat-back. along with other supporting mods that this set-up would net me 475-500. Is this possible or am I having a wet dream?

i'm gonna start off by saying i like the big cams, but definitely not in a GTO, especially a DD one. the car is too heavy & needs torque down low to get them moving. what gears do you have in your GTO? i have 4.30s in my car & run a 27 inch tall tire & i still think it needs more gear. i would try trading it for something like a 228 or similar grind. i have a MS4 in my gutted Trans Am & am tossing the idea around of going a little smaller.

I'm a fan of lower peak power. I'd rather have a cam that makes great power off-idle and under-the-curve torque than a cam that pulls like a freight-train up top but has to play catch-up. Here's what I mean. Perfect example of under-the-curve power and torque. The 226 car still has the stock LS1 intake while the MS4 car has an LS6. ![Chug! Chug! i honestly think i should have went with a bigger cam to begin with.. i have never rode in a cammed car ever!! i currently have a 230/227 112 cam and it drives so much like stock. it definitely is all in the tune. i was considering stepping up to a MS3 or hell even a TREX..
i guess it all depends on your goals on the car.. if your just out to have fun for a street car, DD then go for a smaller more midrange cam.. but if your already spending the time and money then just go with a big cam, just make sure you have everything to support running a big cam..
