LQ9 = WHich LS
Hey, I just bought a LQ9 motor, and I read on all these sites that the parts on these motors and LS motors are interchangable. What I'm interested in is which LS motor is the LQ9 equivilent to, and the part I'm most interested in is whether the intakes are interchangable on them.

I know that there not "equivilent", what was was wondering was which intakes are equivelent where i could replace the one on the LQ9 with. ALso what other parts are interchangable and with what LS motor are they? (LS1? LS2? LS6?)

LIKE I SAID ALMOST EVERY PART IS INTERCHANGEABLE FROM ANY OTHER GEN III ENGINE. HERE IS A LIST OF OTHER GEN III ENGINES AND THE VEHICLES YOU FIND THEM IN >>>>http://www.trifive.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26648 NOT SURE HOW MUCH SIMPLER I CAN SAY THIS???
The stuff you have to ask about is like if you use a vette pulley you have to use all the vette accessory stuff to make it line up because the offset from the crank is different. Truck intakes are great but they are too tall to fit under an f-body hood etc...

Redboy im currently building an LQ9 and have done alot of parts interchange with and for different applications. Right now ive got one going in a 75 vette. Depending what you are putting it in will change things considerably but my LQ9 fits under the hood of the vette with ALL OF THE TRUCK ACCESSORIES IN PLACE. Got any questions just ask

Well room is not the problem at all lol.. I'm putting it into my '84 Silverado and just don't like the way the vortec intake looks. I was wondering does any LS intake interchange with them, cause I see everyone doing the LS6 intakes, and was just wondering if thats because its a bigger HP improvement??

An LS1/LS6/LS2 intake will bolt right on, then you will need fuel rails/injectors/throttle body to match the intake you choose.
You MAY have to change the coolant tubes and valley cover (for PCV) below the intake depending on which manifold you choose.

Is the only difference between LS1 LS2 and LS6 intakes just that the LS6 intakes flow better?? Im on a really tight budget build and would like to upgrade intake but don't want to spend the 400 for LS6 ones..

I like the way the Corvette engine covers look, and think those would look awesome with the orange color of the truck.. Would those work with the truck intakes, and if not are there any other covers out there that look good besides the vortex ones. I'm not the biggest fan of those.

The TBSS's and '07 up 5.3L p'ups use the same truck intake AND with 90mm throttle bodies. This truck intake has been dynoed elsewhere and has shown to make more power across curve than an LS6 intake. The truck intake is ugly but you can use the engine cover from a TBSS and even paint it.

it fits under the hood it's just not worth it to spend $$$ and change all the
rails and stuff for minimal if any increase. Also I thought the LQ9 injectors
are large enough for healthy cam modding.
