Default Goal: 7.0 1/8 mile....what should I do?

Don't know if this is the right forum, but here we go. I have absolutely Nothing LSX related as of now. I'm pondering making a bracket car out of one of my Turbo Buicks and stepping away from the turbo V6 in this particular car.

It's setup well in the chassis and weighs 3500 with driver with the V6.

They run a 7.0 Index class at the 1/8 mile tracks around here and I'd like to try to run that. So that's the goal with the car.

What would I need to run that fast Naturally Aspirated with a LSX engine.

TIA

Stock LS1? A set of sticky tires is all you'd probably need.

Fixed that for you. Maybe take some weight out as well.

So which LS engine should I get? out of an F body, 6.0, etc? I know nothing about these things. The local bone yard wants 2K for one out of an 01' F body with PCM and harness, good deal or no?

Go with the extra cubes and get the 6.0. Throw in a cam and a nice sized stall, and all bolt ons and it will easily run 7.0's.

Good luck running 7.0's with a stock motor and a stall, esp. in a Buick regal body. A stock LS based motor with a 200 shot might get you there.

Bringing back this thread guys. I'm getting closer to getting started, so wanted to make sureno more opinions before I start buying stuff.

Should I just try to get a whole 6.0/4l80e out of a truck and use it all?

Not to try and change your mind but there is a Regal T-Type here with a bigger turbo that runs high 7s. I thought was was just a Regal the first time I saw it run but the times said otherwise.

Yes, I'm just wanting something a little different. My GN runs 7.50's 1/8 mile now. I just have a T Type that I had to sell most of my Turbo Buick parts (the expensive ones) a while back. It's gonna cost me 5-6K to buy all that stuff back and rebuild the 3.8, so I thought I may go LSX on this one since I have another TB.

Plus, it's hard to Index race a turbo car without a trans brake
