Just curious as to why the LS2 only lasted a from 05-09 in production vehicles. Seems strange for G.M. who uses a engine for decades usually. So, if anyone has any ideas...

I mean the ls1 only lasted 7 years, the l76 and the 6.0 truck engine only lasted 3 years I believe...
Same with engines in the past...tbi engines, tpi...crossfire...etc.
Gotta change it up to stay with the times. The ls based engines have had a long run...not near as long as the original small block but still...

Cars are getting faster and faster nowadays and technology is constantly improving. I think that they come out with a new motor every 5-7 years to be competitive with the other manufacturers who are coming out with new and improved powerplants. I believe that both the LT1 and LS1 were only in production for about one year longer than the LS2. However, I think the Chevy 305 was in production for like 25 years or something like that though.

Yeah, the LS1 was in production for about 8 years. I forgot all about the Holden's and GTO's that used the LS1 after '02, don't know why I was just thinking of the F-Bodies. Also, the LS2 was used in the Trailbazer SS and Saab 9-7x Aero in '09 so I'm counting 5 years for the LS2, including 2005 because it was in the Corvette.
