Default 327 lsx

Hey guys, thought I'd throw out this idea. I had a 69 Camaro with a 327 in high school(RIP). I thought if I still had my Camaro, it would be cool to replace the sbc with the new 327 lsx from the new copo Camaro. With a bump to 11 to 1 compression and an appropriate cam of course. Anybody know what kind of hp/tq this might produce? Anybody out there thinking of building one of these themselves?

Bumping the compression to 11:1 on a blown motor is not gonna work.

Also, a .010 5.3 will net you 327 cubes, I don't see the need to drop a large sum of cash on this engine. I'm not even sure it can be had over the counter yet.

You can pick up a 5.3 for next to nothing, and build it to be twice the engine the lsx 327 is for half the money.

Whoops, i need to clarify. The whole point of this thread was to build it NA, No blower. Also, all the parts are already available. It was just a build to be diff engine, a little rev monster with huge breathing heads. I thought it would make a nice counter to the new 5.0 from ford. No wonder nobody said anything, Lol! Now, does anybody have a thought?

If you really want to get crazy with it, you can start with a 6.0 block and have a crank ground to 3.25. Then you have a true 327 old school style in a new school package. Full solid roller...all the bells and whistles and You can have an 8k 500 + horse screamer on your hands.

Thats what I'm thinking. Should be a screamer, yet rock solid. Really hoping some engine builders would chim in and tell us what the powerband might look like.

From my ls building background, I can attest just about any ls with a solid roller and a short stroke is a high revving bitch.

The heads have excellent port velocity from the factory, the higher you spin it, the better they breathe.

Combine that with a good port program and there is no reason you couldn't have a good power band from 4 to 8k and still have power under the curve to have decent driveability at lower rpms.

Sounds cool...I have pondered making a 4.8 into a 302 to pay homage to the dz302 of yesteryear
