Dish soap will also work if it's just dirt/grime. Heavy grease/oil deposits will need something more aggressive like Simple Green though.

I ended up using engine degreaser from O'Reilly's. Used it on my 99 and 00, worked like a freaking charm. Like the guys above said, there may be some spots that have heavy deposit and you might need to scrub them but the product I used was amazing, made the damn car look like I got it off the lot. Autozone has one too but you can only use it when the engine is cold. The one from O'Reilly's isnt flammable and has to be used when the engine is hot, which is when all the junk in the engine bay is loose and at it's easiest to get off. You wont be disappointed.

Do you all just spray on and rinse off, or do you scrub at some of the tougher spots?

Spray and rinse for the most part, scrub in some of the tougher spots. The kind of grime that gets on some spots is impossible to spray and rinse

I like Grease Lighting with the foam nozzle, I think it breaks down the grease a bit better.

I use both though, I use simple green with the nozzle set to stream to blast the stuff off (I use it really liberally) and the grease lighting to soak large areas to be scrubbed.

I tooth brush is really useful and a steam cleaner is great tool if you have one available to you.

Do you cover the electronics or just take caution to not hit the connections when you rinse off?

I use Extreme orange from the chemical guys. Its biodegradable, and doesn't pull the seal coating off of my blacktop driveway like a lot of others do.

If usually just barley pull the trigger and let the water kind of trickle if it is something I'm just rinsing, so I won't cover anything up.

If I'm blasting tying to get some stubborn grime off, I will cover the injectors and coil packs with a bag to prevent any water from spraying on them.

Don't worry about them..weatherpack connectors that aren't rotted will not have any problems.

If there is a shop around that has a steam pressure washer, that will clean the engine fast. Simple Green would help with the heavy stuff.
