Default 1999 Trans Am punch list...recommendations welcome!

Hey guys!

My car is ready for some upgrades and fixes. 1999 Trans Am A4 114k miles

1) Headlights/fog lights/DRLs

Has anyone finally made a good headlight upgrade/conversion kit? I've seen other members make a kit for the low beams. Also, I have a fog light that is out. I'd rather upgrade both fog lights than just replace the bad one with a stock replacement. I need the replacement connector for the bad DRL...do people "upgrade" those or just stick with factory replacement bulbs?

2) Visors/vanity mirrors are trashed. Replace, repair, or delete them?

3) Cracked dash...I would love to cover it with vinyl, but one of the fins in the big vent is broken. Doesn't one of the sponsors make a replacement?

4) Crack in the driver's door. The one that everyone has. New door panel or is there a fix?

5) Alternator belt tension pulley is squeaky. Simple swap out for a new one?

6) "LOW OIL" light come on and goes off whenever it wants. Oil levels are good. Is this common?

7) "LOW COOLANT" light flickers on and off. Coolant levels are ok.

8) The suspension is NOISY and clunky. I know new struts will help a ton. I might as well get new springs while I'm in there. My main goal is ride comfort and handling. The car has never been in a race or to the strip, nor will it. While I'm under there, what else should I replace? Motor/tranny mounts? Suspension bushings? Anything else that will make the car ride really well? Sub frame connectors?

Thanks for any advice!

Most likely.

Likely a bad sensor.
7) "LOW COOLANT" light flickers on and off. Coolant levels are ok.
Same as above.

First, these cars have shocks, not struts.
Next if the suspension is squeaky and clunky its likely bad bushings (should be replaced with OEM rubber as poly bushing will bind in control arms) Swaybar D bushings are known for being noisy when they dry out.
Rebuild kit here: http://www.stranoparts.com/partdetai...D=18&ModelID=7
Your stock springs are fine if they are not sagging, and will be the best spring for ride quality. If you want to replace the shocks (which I would suggest for significantly better ride and handling) go with bilstiens at minimum http://www.stranoparts.com/partdetai...D=20&ModelID=7 (don't waste your time/money with autozone replacements). If you really want a massive change in handling get some koni SAs, you won't believe you are driving the same car.

Motor mounts are a huge PINA, you can do it if your up to it. Tranny mount is much easier but many have reported bad vibrations with poly mounts vs the stock rubber.
SFC's won't do you any favors in ride or handling, you likely won't notice a difference at all. Shocks are key to good handling and ride.

I would do subframe connectors, give the car a tighter feel. I noticed a difference in the way the car launches when I had them done, the car would leave straighter and would kick out less often. I picked up a pair of Spohn tubular welded ones for about 60 bucks IIRC.

Nothing wrong with a nice set of SFC's thats for sure, I have yet get a set for this t/a, did do it on my 383 iroc and it made a world of a change in the launch; did nothing for my turning capabilities though. Get them bushings and shocks and go from there.
