Took my car down to Speed Productions in Jackson Mississippi to get a dyno run on it, I had been wanting to do this for awhile and when the chance came for 3 dyno runs for $50 I couldn't pass it up, so I brought my car down and had them run it.

My car is an A4 with 2.73's, mods are SLP LM1 cat-back, SLP lid, and Ported & Polished throttle body, nothing else.

The car put up some surprising numbers:

325.55 RWHP
347.43 RWTQ

Temperature in the garage was 99 degrees, humidity was 31%.

With an 18% drive train loss, which I think is standard for the 4 speed automatics, the car should be making 384.19 horsepower to the crank. Did a cat-back, lid, and TB really help to add 34HP to the car? Or was it a little bit higher than 350 to begin with do you think? People were impressed and thought it had to have heads or headers to be making those numbers.





Also, I apologize, but since I uploaded the video to YouTube it seems to be very quiet, you will probably have to turn up your volume to be able to hear it. Let me know what you guys think.

I'm not too familiar with dyno jet vs Mustang dyno. What's the difference, wy would one be more "generous" than the other? How are they not the same thing? What do you think my car would get on a Mustang dyno?

MDs measure actual power. my tuner said theres about a 13% difference between and dynojet and mustang dyno.

My car is similar, only a manual with 3.42's, and you have the LS6 intake and better heads. I'm getting dyno'd on Saturday also on a Dynojet so we'll see how close we are in numbers.

Yeah Dynojet's keep customers happy with their numbers but Mustang Dyno is more accurate.

your dyno correction factor is STD, generally people use SAE. generally STD gives a higher number. not by much but enough

Is your car a factory freak? I don't think so. Would your car pick up 10whp if those exhaust tips weren't sticking out so far? I do think so.

LOL, yeah those are sticking out kind of far aren't they? I had an LM1 at one point, and mine weren't even that bad. Close, but not as bad. Weird.

Lol sorry guys, I'm pretty unfamiliar with dynos, it was my first time going to one, I jsut thought the numbers seemed a little high, and I guess they were.

I was only expecting 290-300WHP. I was HOPING to break 300WHP. Guess I need to find a Mustang Dyno to give it a real test. Thanks for the input! Cheers

Well I just thought the numbers seemed a little high, I didn't know there was a difference between a dyno jet and a Mustang dyno.

Lol, yeah I kinda hate my tips. They stick out really far and hang WAY below the bumper. I didn't install it myself. Any recommendations on tips that would look good for this car? That would probably be the next best appearance mod I could do for my car.

Your car is normal. I know a factory freak car that made 370 on 3 different dynos with just bolt ons and no tune.

No tips are the best tips on camaros unless you do CME

Either Magnaflow cannons, or Corsa clones. I like the cannons because they're long and kinda just "fit" under the entire rear end of the car like they belong there....

My car with only the free ram air mod did 324rwhp/341rwtrq... numbers don't seem 'high' to me considering some dynos are generous and you have a few mods on it. Get some track times now and you will know if the dyno was fibbing or not.

I prefer the stock exhaust tips to be honest... I had tips like yours on my old LT1 car but I didn't like how they looked and it sounded too much like a truck. Nice looking car man.

I agree with this^ People hate on the canon tips but I think they look sick on Camaros and Formulas. People call em truck tips but real truck tips are usually cut at way more of a slant and I think the Magnaflow cannons tips look just right. If I had a T/A I'd want quad tips though.

The factory SS tips look the best, IMO. Sorry for Thread Jackin'. But those numbers seem about right for your mods on a DYNOJET.

You will run within .2 (slower or faster) than all other fbodys with the same mods.

A dyno doesn't show a factory freak, a dyno doesn't tell you anything.

Take it to the track.

Thanks for all the great replies guys. The tips aren't my favorite, but they came with the exhaust set-up and I haven't really gotten around to changing them out yet.

The CME set up is one of my favorites, but a bit on the pricey side. I'm thinking I may go back to the stock Z28 exhaust tips but in chrome, does anyone like that look?

The Cannon tips definitely look nicer than mine, but I think there's better out there.

Also, took my car to the track when it was stock, ran a 13.57 at 104.85MPH, this was launching from idle (500RPM) I didn't know it was a good idea to hold in the break and rev up the RPM's before taking off, so 13.57 to 13.64 were the fastest and slowest times I ran my first time out to the track. With the new mods, better tires, and a bit more experience I'm hoping for low 13's next time. Anything under 13.0 would make me ecstatic!

Dynos are generous! There was a 2013 Honda Accord there that day all stock that put down 256WHP...the car is only rated at 278HP to the crank, unless Honda is GROSSLY underrating their V6 cars now I would say that dyno was a little inflated. Oh well, I'm still happy with the numbers, and more than happy to throw them in my signature for whatever its worth even though it was a dynojet.

It seems true or more accurate results would come from a Mustang dyno and another track visit.

And thanks for the compliment! Car has been a work in progress, they look pretty bland stock, but I think I'm sprucing up its appearance just a bit, and keeping it clean for its age.
