Default Back in an Fbody! 2002 SOM Z28

Not sure if this is the correct section so feel free to move it if needed.

Its been around 89 days since I last owned an fbody but who's counting?

After selling my pride an joy that had its many ups and downs and a lot of money later, I realized I needed to get back into a fast, money pit something.

(the old 93, don't mind the ugly mug, i was focusing on not hitting the camera man)

I wasn't sure if I wanted a C5 Z06, Base C6, a roller fbody or a pristine 98-02. So I finally decided in the middle, something that wasn't perfect but wasn't ragged out that wouldn't see the road for years.

My price range was 6500 max. I really didn't want to spend over 6 but would for the right car. Its surprising how many stupid people are on craigslist. We will save the stories for another day.

After checking out a few cars that just didn't fit the bill, my buddy got ahold of me and said he found a car for me.

$4,795 bucks later, I am the owner of a 2002 Sunset orange metallic Z28, A4, TTops, 117k miles. A little more than I was originally going to pay for it (4300) but things happen and thats what I had to end up paying. No complaints here.

Now, on to the pictures!!!

As you can see, some tlc is needed to make her (in my eyes) perfect or should I say 'more appealing'.

On the near future "to-do" list.

- Paint front bumper (fortunately I know a guy )
- Paint the rear bumper (better color match, its a little red)
- Lower it! Nick gave me a set of Intrax springs, they are around a 2" drop  Worst case scenario I put the stockers back on or cut my stockers.
- Throw on the widened 10 spokes, I still need a set of tires for the front 2. ( need someone to school me on spacers/ adapters )
- Clean the heck out of it. Engine bay needs a degreasing and powerwashing for sure. Ill be taking it to work and running the wheel on it for a few hours.
- a friend was also kind enough to let me borrow his SLP lid until he is ready to swap his on his LT1.
- TINT, i already can't stand the fishbowl :lolsign: Fortunately I have been doing some paint work for A2 customs so in return they will be tinting it. I'm still undecided if ill be doing the sides 5% or not. I currently have my Fusion 5% all the way around and 35% on the windshield.
- Ill have a body guy tear into the drivers door, it might need a new regulator.
- Whistlering the headlights and clearcoating them. Maybe even grind down the little adjustment ***** too.
- Paint the mirrors black.

As for the turbo build. I already bought in on Huron Speeds group purchase that just ended about a month ago. Yes, I put the carriage before the horse
I don't know alot about turbo builds but I have been reading and researching as much as possible. Currently I have the hot side and cold side, intercooler, mounting brackets, turbo blanket, bov, clamps.

Ill still need:
- 317 heads
- headstuds
- 80lb injectors
- Fuel pump(s) unsure at this moment on what route to go.
- Wastegate
- Turbo
- Tubular K
- Derale fans
- Tune

I'm sure there is a ton I am forgetting at the moment. I will also need a bunch of suspension stuff and figure out what I am going to do with the trans.
My goal is around 600rwhp, reliably.

Thanks for looking!!! Stay tuned

Ordered a set tires. Not the best by any means but something to beat on for the summer.

Picked up an oem ss spoiler for $200 bucks.

I have been so busy at work I haven't had much time to do anything with her :/

Today I whistlered the headlights and cleared the lenses. I think it turned out pretty nice. I still need to silicone them back together.

One sanded down ready for clear. Before and after

One painted, one ready for paint

Ready for clear

Cleared

Ready to go back together

I think i have a problem

I picked up the 10 spokes off of craigslist for $150, each one has a crack in it maybe 1/2" long, I'm not sure what he did. I'll have a guy at work weld them back up.

Thinking of going with this color of wheels.

I will probably end up spraying the entire car come fall. After I get an oem ss hood ill have to blend the fenders and the spoiler it would be smart to blend the quarters. Since ill already be doing both bumpers that leaves me the doors. Pretty dumb not to do the whole thing. It shouldn't cost me much.

Looks great, cool plans.

Sounds like a solid deal as well, i'd pay $4700 for that all day long.

Thanks everyone. I sprayed the wheels today.

Wheels are done. They turned out exactly as I wanted them to.

Awesome! Thanks! Did you sand them by hand or did you use something else to sand?

I lowered the car today. Cut around 1 and 3/4 of a coil off the front, new shocks, stock shock mounts (thankfully). Rear is cut 1 and 1/4 coils, I may do a bit more.

Wheels are on. I love it. I wish the sun was out to make the metallic pop but I'll have plenty of summer to where it out.

Took it for a spin around the block. It rides way better than I expected. The passenger side upper mount we tried to salvage is making a clunking noise. So ill be ripping apart that side again tomorrow and replacing it.

I still think the hose mod in the rear is needed.
