Smallest SIZED (not output) LS Alternator
Hi all,
I am building a little something fun and for my front drive I am running only the water pump and alternator. I know I will need a tensioner and most likely an idler to get the wrap I need around the crank. Height and width are issues so I am looking for the simplest solution and smallest sized alternator case I can find.
The LS1 will be fitted with the Corvette damper and water pump to keep it al close to the block and clear my sway bar.
Anyone have an idea if a one wire high output like the "Mean Green" will fit?
Thanks in advance....

Do you want to see how I ran mine? Uses a regular f body alternator and tensioner with the vette beltline.
Here's a top down view, let me go get a better picture.
This is the bracket you need

You also need an idler #35009 and a tensioner.

That is just what I was looking for.
Last night I was playing with the plexi templates from my LS Miata build and came up with basically the same thing. For that car I made parts out of cardboard, then plexi to see if I was in the ballpark, then once the design was finalized and all my holes were proven I cut them from a sheet of 1/2" 6061 aluminum and polished all the edges. Worked out great!
I really like this set up though...Thanks!

I'm on that forum as well.... same screen name.
I was able to find the same bracket from another supplier for $65 shipped. Got the belt/idler/alt and tensioner from some other listings at the same time. Should have it all on the shelf this week.
In the mea time I sandblasted and primed/painted the brake booster and got that installed. Running fuel and brake lines now.
