Default My 02 WS6

This is my 3rd f-body and first Trans Am. Both of my previous cars were used primarily for drag racing. The goal with this car is to make it a fun AutoX car that still is comfortable enough to drive on the street. I picked it up off a forum member here and drove 5 hrs each way to get it. Overall, the car was in pretty good shape when I bought it but I've spent the past couple of weeks fixing little things to really make the car perfect. Performance wise, the car is full bolts, upgraded clutch, and Strange S60 rear end.

Some little things that were wrong with the car when I bought it:
- stock head unit display back-light blown out
- typical firebird door panel cracks
- S60 had lots of surface rust
- interior vent broken because one of the previous owners tried to mount a shift light in it
- a couple of spots of surface rust under the car
- passenger window motor slow
- Rear lower control arms shot extremely corroded

Since I bought the car the follow upgrades were made:
- Complete stereo system(Sony Double DIN car play radio with Kee Audio Level 3 system)
- Passenger window motor replaced
- S60 rear cleaned up and fresh coat of Por15
- Interior vent replaced
- Door panels taken apart and cracks addressed
- New rims/tires
- New UMI lower control arms
- Por15 any areas of rust found

I plan on trying to attend my first autocross next week if the weather holds.

A few pictures of the car and work I've done:

Passenger panel completely cracked. Might redo it down the road.

S60 full of surface rust

S60 all cleaned up

Clean car.

At least get yourself some Koni sports asap, you will love the way they make the car handle and feel. Very BMW M3 like.

The car is already riding on Strano springs and bilstein shocks. I’ll run those this summer and then see what upgrades are in store this winter.

The C5 Corvette magnesium wheels look sharp. You don't see them everyday.

Nice car..if you repair the door panel crack im curious to see how you do it because both of mine are cracked and Im trying to figure out what technique to use. Im also dealing with surface rust under my 02 whats your technique to remove the rust and clean up the areas? So far Ive used a wire brush but Im wondering if sand blasting might be necessary.

I just used a few wire wheel attachments on a drill to get any area I was concerned with.

Also,

Here is a picture of the car with the rims I went with:

Those wheels look great..very clean look.

Once you removed the rust did you use any product or chemical to prep the surface?
Also what percentage tint do you have on your side windows?

I just used a rag with brake clean to wipe everything clean. I know POR sells etching primer that I'd probably use next time to make things easier.
