Was there _any_ way to order a F-body with a LS6 thru a dealer?

Was it the LS6 longblock, with LS6 heads & intake? If they ran short on product, and they used the LS6 part(s), then the customer had no say in the matter, correct?
One of my friends who races with me indicated a dealer replaced his hydralocked engine with one which at least contained the LS6 shortblock, but he just calls it an 'LS6' so I don't know what all they gave him. I think he's being screwed by our club rules and being put into a higher class just because of that LS6 designation. I feel that if the dealer chose to do it due to lack of factory product (and he can prove the dealer did it), then he shouldn't be in that race group.

No, you couldn't order a 98+ F-body with an LS6 in it assembled at the factory. Now there are places like GMMG etc. which would pull the old motors in favor of different motors at the customers say so.
Maybe he shouldnt' call it an "LS6" then?

ls6 block doesn't mean anything. after 01 they put the ls6 intake on ALL ls1s. I've heard of the option to get a ls6 engine put in your car if for some reason you destroy your ls1 block. Its a crate engine avalible through gm, but you would have to pay extra, and also have a dealership that would turn their head to putting a different motor in your car. If your friend didn't request it, then that didn't happen though.

No way to order an LS6 in an F body straight from the factory, now you could have ordered the ls6 heads and cam and had them installed at the dealer before picking up the car, but other than that no
Tho I have seen a 98 SS with a corvette spec ls1, as opposed to the f body spec ls1, that according to the owner is how it was delivered to the dealer, so I suppose mistakes can be made with what engine you could get, but to order one specifically, was virtually impossible

It was vette spec as in the FRCs fit without the typical cutting that has to be done on the f body, I know it's the same engine mechanically with only a few minor packaging differences, based on the platform, but I didn't feel like arguing with the guy
Just going by what he said (don't shoot the messenger LOL )
