I think a lot of that has a lot to do with people who don't know anything about driving a 300-300hp+ RWD car, especially teenagers who think they just have a fast car. I've known people who died in a camaro, and they were immature, racing a car they new nothing about IN THE RAIN. And aren't most cars today unibody??

Look in today's Atlanta newspaper. Two girls get prison time for street racing their BMW's which resulted in two deaths. BMW, Mercedes, Toyota. They all kill with the wrong people at the wheel. F-bodies are disproportionately blamed because they are so popular with too many inexperienced drivers that own them. Way too much power for probably half the teens that drive them. Disasters waiting to happen every day.
