i would pull them out just to be sure if it were me, you will think yourself anyway, and afterwards youll have that knowledge in the back of your head that you didnt in fact bend one...

What do you mean? I dont have any tapping really, just normal LS1 stuff. My top end is dead silent.

Thats the good thing about these cars. You can simply pull the valve covers and rocker arms, check/change the pushrods. Tighten the rocker arms to 22 ft/lbs, turn the motor over once, then check/adjust to 22ft/lbs. Make sure to use a thread locker though. You don't have to worry about TDC or anything. The only time I used TDC on my car was doing the cam swap, so the valves wouldn't drop on the cylinder I was working on.

yea even with the LT1 you dont need to TDC for rocker change.

i dont think you bent a pushrod since you didnt go freakishly over redline.

Yeah, im sure it was under 6500, or pretty sure. Memory tack in my head says 6100ish. If. I drove her kinda hard, pulling through the gears and noticed no top engine noise. I think my exhaust has a tick to it though, because I hear a tick when I stick myu head UNDER the car, but the top end the fuel injectors popping are BY FAR the loudest noise up top. Even listening with the oil cap off and my ear on it I barely heard the clank of rocker arms.

its hard to go by the stock tach for something like this. with how quick this would of happened, it probably couldn't react fast enough.

pullin the rockers is nothing at all. id go ahead and take off the rockers and check each pushrod anyway, even if it sounds alright. it doesn't cost anything to check, no gaskets or seals to replace.

I listened to his car and it sounds VERY similar, except he has a ****!!! OF A VAC LEAK!!! car almost died 2x!!! I think its that thing right behind his TB that I dont have b/c I bought an 01.

Anyways, he has an exhaust tic JUST LIKE! I do. I think its exhaust related and not pushrod related b/c I hear it better from UNDER the car than with my hear 6" from the head. That means its exhaust ticking that I never noticed, huh?

Its most likely not a bent pushrod, but from reading this thread it sounds like you think the same thing its probally not a bent pushrod but still in the back of your mind you have doubt, so I would check them just to make sure and for the peace of mind

Like I said, mine made a small tapping noise at first sounded like an exhaust leak, then seemed as it went away, then it came back but worse, then I just pulled the valve covers and one looked like a 7

Pulling valve covers takes.. approximately 20 minutes for someone who has never done it before. It's worth it to reassure yourself. If one is bent, more than likely you'll know it soon as the valve covers off.. if all looks good, then you might want to investigate further and remove rocker arms (another 10-20 minutes for a noob)..

I tend to think that one is likely bent.. even if it isn't that obvious. Just because I've never been lucky.

Peace,
Josh

But I hear nothing on the top end, just under the car. I cant hear it when im on top hardly at all. Wierd. I think its exhaust. I took the car to 5500 today and it felt fine, no noise before, during, or after.

PS, my 5.0 had an exhaust leak, this is not that, that is 1:8 with engine speed. This is 1:1 with engine speed and I think its my exhaust rattling. It seems in harmony wiht the blat blat of my exhaust. If it is a bent pushrod then EVERY ONE OF THEM is bent JUST THE SAME and they must straighten out under WOT, lol.

my buddy runs his WS.6 up to 6200rpms at the track, then again he has a tune and what not, but i'm pretty sure these motors can take it...

if you're really worried, it's not that hard to take off the valve covers and check...just for your peace of mind.

Well, listened to both valve covers today. I think its just normal LS1 noise I wasn't hearing before. Both valve covers sound identical, the faintest rapid-fire clack from each of them. All 8 clacks on each side sound the same.
