Default Help me find an oil! (complicated)

I hate GC 0-30 because in my 5.0 it sucked a TON of it into the intake and it used it at a bad rate. Almost like M1 10-30. I want: A full synthetic oil that can be purchased at auto-zone/wal-mart and meets GF3/GF4 specifications. I want a weight with a 100CST of 12.6-13.5 and I would like 0-40 or 5-40 weight.

Sorry Patman, I just dont like GC. I have heard too many 50/50 posts and I myself didnt have any luck in my other car with it.

PS. when I bought the car it was QUIET! it had a really heavy oil. THis 10-30 syntec uses no oil, but tis a tad louder. I want something a bit heavier.

I've been very happy with M1 0W40.

No burning.

Engine noise reduced significantly over the M1 10W30.

Oil pressure up about 3-5psi over M1 10W30.

Autozone almost always has it in stock.

But its not the EXTENDED formula, I was lead to belive that only the 15K mile formula is true synthetic.

M1 0w40 is fully synthetic, if you must get the extended formula do so.. however, don't keep it in there for 15k!! No oil filter I can think of that will filter for even half that effciently.

I would NEVER keep it for 15K, I just heard its a better formula, M1 claims they dont make it 0-40 in 15K though

I've had the M1 0w40 for 1600k and i just added a little bit of oil today. Its performing very well compared to M1 10w30 and its not the extended version.

Switching from M1 10W30 to M1 0W40 cut my valvetrain noise in half, maybe more. I don't think any oil will make the LS1 valvetrain 100% silent, every one I've ever owned/heard makes a slight sewing machine sound no matter what oil it's got, even when stock. But M1 0W40 will get the motor as quiet as you could hope for.

Yes, I know it's NOT a Wally World/Advance/AZ item, but if you're worried about the 100 degree cst you cannot go wrong with either Redline 5W-40 or Amsoil 5W-40. Short of that, the Pennzoil Platinum is great "off the shelf" non "boutique" oil, but I'm not sure of the 10W-30's cst (it's probably not as high as you want), and I'm told that any of their heavier weights are NOT the same excellent formulation (but I'm not positive on this, maybe Patman can chime in with some definitive answers on this??).

Same here. Oil pressure went up, no consumption issues, etc.

Yes, the AMSOIL AFL 5w-40 has been and would be a great choice in this situation. 100cst of 13.7. https://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/afl.aspx?zo=1436102

The 10w-40 is 14.4 @ 100 if you are looking for heavier.
