I know its probably been posted before but I cant find anything on it so I'll post it again. How many people mod the car even though they still owe on it? How many people do drastic mods like FI and specific built nitrous motors?

I did a couple bolt-ons while I was paying it down. Nothing to void the war or anything. I kept the stock parts too. I would never do motor work or FI or anything like that or even headers unless the title was in my hand. It is just a foolish financial decision if you ask me. Pay it off, then mod it. I have seen so many guys mod their cars while they owe on it then find out they can not even make the payment on the car and have to sell it (for one reason or another). Now the car is reduced in value from mods and you will not get what you owe or you have your work cut-out for you in de-modding your car and hoping you can get some money back from the parts.

I've modded every car that I've owned. The longest warranty I've ever had made it to 18,000 miles.
On my Trailblazer SS, I voided my warranty at 4360 miles with the addition of a blower.

I did some modding on my car before it was paid off, including the cam/head work. I would be leary of modding it while you owe a lot on it, and also be careful that you can make the payments (one real good thing I did was have the montly payment auto withdrawn, so I never got the chance to spend it on something else).
By the time I did more serious mods on mine I owed very little on it, and my interest rate was low. I did some figuring and realized if I save to pay it off early it would only save me about 170$ in the end. So I chose ot mod it and eat that 170$.

Only mods I have are in the sig, nothing outragous, but I'll have the thing paid off completely next month.... but getting married and buying a house next year so my modding money is going to take a hit.

well, in a perfect world we all would be patient and would not need to make payments as we would pay cash and blah blah blah, but its not, and alot of us owe money, myself included, but we mod cause we cant wait and know this car is never going anywhere!

I was modding my WS6 even when I still owed $16K on it.
Of course it's always better to pay down debt first just in case of the unexpected, but it worked out fine for me....
