Default 27 Mpg!!

So I finally got a chance to take my 01 SS M6 on a short road trip.

She did awesome. set the cruise at 85MPH for 300 miles and filled up as soon as I pulled into town. 27MPG was the outcome. I love my car!!

I got 27.5 for 150 miles, 26.5 for another part of my trip, and 24 on another part (I think I calculated that part wrong though). But yeah, sounds like we get the exact same. nice to have 300whp and good mileage, eh?

Awsome isn't it? I averaged 29.10 mpg on the 460mi. all interstate trip home from buying my 01 T/A. That is one of the things I like best about this car.

I only got over 30 one time and that was with stock gear, all interstate, and cruise set at 70mph, and I drive a M6. I only got a little over 20 if I was going 85mph.

The only highway driving i've done with mine so far was in cooler weather about 60mph. Only got 29. I thought I woulda gotten more than that. But I'm not complaining thats for sure. I wish I knew now how bad my mileage will go down if/when I put 4.10's in

^^^I was wondering about mileage with gears too. I have the stock 2.73's in right now, but once I get my 12 bolt i'm thinking either 3.23's or 3.73's. I wonder what kind of a hit mileage will take.

I think the best I've seen is 36 out of an LS1 vette.

LS2, but about 45-mile highway cruise last week in the GTO and netted average 27.6mpg at about 60-65mph (light traffic). This is with occasional acceleration to get around slower traffic and some hilly terrain. Some straight level stretches I was seeing over 29mpg on the display.

Wow, I never got a chance to see those #s. I guess the fact that I am in NY and have an LS1 edit tune, no cats/ mufflers and 3.73 gears doesn't help.
I can't wait till we start drilling in the gulf and then desecrate the Alaskan plains.

I've done mods to several LS1 f-bodies.

if you put longtube headers with offroad Y-pipe on your car, it will actually improve the fuel mileage. About 1.5 mpg average on the highway.

if you put 3.73 gears in a 6-speed, you will lose about 1 mpg average. 4.10s about 1.5 mpg worse than stock. Not too bad.
