It's not big news if a N/A Fbody hits 11s or even 10s. But even if you don't like Mustangs, it's a good thing that they're there since it gives f-body owners an "enemy." I'd much rather be paired up with a Cobra at the track than a 350Z or something, win or lose. I'm a die-hard Yankees fan but I love seeing them play the Red Sox. Competition is fun.

^ I'm with you, to me this rivalry is a friendly one, but some people are just a$$holes about it on both sides. Ford vs Chevy has been around forever, and I hope it still is, if both companys can get their stuff together financially.

The mustang in my opinion is slower, gets worse MPG and is really uncomfortable. The whole car just seems so small. The rear, no room for your legs and my head hits the ceiling. I'm 6ft also so not too tall.
The only thing that I envy on a mustang is the fact that the car has true duals!

That and the engine can handle 900hp without exploding the crank like the LS1.
For that you need to drop the compression on the LS1, then put a forged crank on it, and then run boost plus a tune.
Then it'll win because it has more cubes in the engine for the low end PLUS the boost.
Nothing wrong with that either because a Z28 was only something like $22.5 k while the Cobra was something over $33k.

I hear getting a terminator to 500 rwhp is not that difficult. But for a LS1 you have to spend a fortune to get to 500 rwhp and then another fortune to upgrade everything that 500 rwhp is going to break. I wish we had forged internals from GM
I gotta give credit where credit is due. FORD did a great job on the 03/04 Cobras.

I like the mustangs, Espically the fox body's, and the 01-04. Yeah there performance is not what it should be. but the cars still look amazing and the sound is off the chain. I love my camaro, but if I was to ever get rid of it, I would probibly buy a Mach1 or 03-04 cobra.
Ford + chevy= great cars. But you will allways find a lemon..

does anyone else think the fox 5.0 looks like an escort? I have always thought this and have always hated the styling of those cars. Just my .02. It seems as if more Mustang owners are ******** than the fbody guys. Or maybe thats just in Mineesota.

If you would like to compare the two engines how about comparing the Ford GT block to a LS1 as its comparable in ci but the LS1 still has the advantage. So lets see 810rwhp out of a GT500 with a kb anyone have a stock displacement LS1 doing that?

The worst part of the Mustang is the fact that it has some douchebag owners (NOT all of them just a few)
But I know some GM/F-body guys that are jerks also, so it's in every group.
Both are completely differnt cars with +/- all around
I disagree with some though. I think this is pretty intriguing thread, and I'm interested to see where it goes.

5.4L GT500 motor is nothing special, blown LS1s make far more power with pretty much the same displacement, with the same boost. Those cars benefit from a forged bottom end (something GM has been too cheap to do since the 60s), which is why you can all-of-a-sudden stuff 20 lbs into it and make 800 RWHP without worrying about the high-quality Eagle forged rotating assembly kicking the bucket... Cobra owners suffer from Supra syndrome. They are obsessed with this "stock bottom end" crap as if it means dick.
